1. Inflation is worldwide.
2. There was a near record drought.
3. Stop being an idiot.
Inflation is solely the result of our idiotic response to covid.

So tell us about last year and the extremely low prices of crawfish. And that’s with the price of everything else being up a lot
Advocate article literally titled: “Acadiana crawfish outlook 2023: Prices a bit high, but there's plenty of supply out there”
Also:
quote:
This week, the CRAWDAQ Index shows you can expect to pay an average of $32.70 for 5 lbs of boiled crawfish in Lafayette ($6.54/lb). That's down 5% from last week's prices, but still 5% more expensive than average for this time of year.

Advocate article was from Feb 2023 the KATC article is from March 2023.
Stereotypes exist for a reason and there’s a reason every time there’s any sort of major incident someone posts about crawfish prices going up.

I would like to hope that it kicks in by March it’s still unknown if it actually will. As far as trying to “catch up” I don’t think farmers will catch up it’ll be a matter of just trying to get to next year.

You can’t just take a certain week in February of last year and say crawfish was high last season. If you look at the whole season the price to the farmer was lower last year than the last 3 years.

Hey, look......I just found an article heading into Easter of last year that said prices were down 25%+ over the same time period in 2022! Huh......
You just have to ignore some of these people.

The morons conveniently forget that the market dropped weeks BEFORE holy week, Good Friday and Easter last year. That alone should yield a rebuttal to their sky screaming about high prices but they refuse to accept reality so they can keep whining.

Average prices to the farmer have lowered every year the last 3 years even with rising input costs.
This is every business in America my guy.

Every business? You’re wrong my guy….. prices of vehicles up or down? Prices of every food in the store up or down? I can keep going on.

Crawfish industry has a legit excuse this year, but finds that past crying wolf leaves customers not giving a shite

Good the first step in any recovery is admitting a problem. But to be perfectly honest, it doesn't matter to me or most people in the industry one bit whether they eat a single crawfish for the rest of their lives or not.
Increasing demand from new consumers and other parts of the country would gladly buy up the crawfish that Louisianans don't want anymore. I'm positive that they would love to have an increased supply and lower prices as a result of OT'ers boycotting crawfish.
All the naysayers just need to quit bitching and moaning about the price and move on since "shramps tastes better anyway" or "quit buying and the price will drop" and they "don't give a shite" anymore. They need to educate themselves and think before opening their mouths purposely and absolutely proving themselves to be foolish.

Once again y'all need to quit believing everything you watch on tv. Very few farmers are out on tv "crying wolf" every year. And if there are some that get interviewed on the local news, they cannot possibly speak for all producers.

We've been getting crawfish for years so not exactly new consumers. But, between Austin & San Antonio, our little boil shack posted that they're getting some supply today. Didn't say what the price is but said it would fluctuate with the market. Price already $10/lb the past couple years and that's where I draw the line.

Unfortunately that’s how business works.
Less demand drops prices to reasonable levels.
Luckily I don’t give a shite about crawfish

Now do less supply with equal demand and you'll get to where we are at this season.
