DeSantis lost probably the bulk of the MAGA vote when he ran this year. His subsequent campaign did zero to change that and, at times, made him look anything but formidable. Without that base, he didn't have a prayer of winning the primary, much less the general.
This long held largely republican political idea that taking a position slightly to the other side of your opponent is the way to win elections is baffling. Bush senior ran as a continuation of Reagan politics. He lied. His dipshit son ran on non-intervention and a host of other issues he didn't believe in before becoming a warmongering globalist that grew governmment to levels that made Obama jealous. The next two tries at toeing the middle failed miserably and LEAD to Trump. Right now, there is NO option besides Trump who can defeat the left and that's because he's the only one that is playing politics the least. He's the one who has actually done something about immigration, trade, deescalation overseas, reforming tax code... the rest push for more war and otherwise sound like Biden. How is that any threat to the left?

Republicans/Trumpists should really start to pay attention to what the Democrats are doing structurally on state levels to guarantee that they have an electoral advantage instead of all this focus on Trump and his never ending soap opera.

Every single person that voted for Trump last time is going to vote for him again.
If you think somehow that Biden has won some of these voters over, you're insane. Out the gate, Biden has to get more than 74MM votes.
Consider Biden has some of the lowest approval ratings imaginable. He ran on "we need the adults in charge", the reality is a complete border collapse, everyone in the world getting "froggy" and a giant money vacuum in Ukraine.
If you think Biden is a "shoe in", I'd advise you to exit your echo chamber before you run out of air.

Lou Pai told me that DeSantis was the only one who had a good plan to combat this.
Now that he’s onboard with the ultimate Republican nominee, I’m assuming he’s gonna let him in on it and help him push forward with the same plan to overcome these structural obstacles, no?

You are somewhat correct. When you have proven 100% illegal ballot harvesting and do nothing to fix it or charge the criminals it's tough for any candidate to lose.
