Is he out of the rotation? Noticed him not playing the last 2 games, figured he was hurt but then played garbage minutes tonight. Anyone know what’s going on?

Basically Hawkins took his minutes. So yes out of rotation.

Willie just refuses to take Naji's minutes. Jose should get more pt than him. He's shooting 40 percent from 3

Agreed. Jose needs to be playing over Naji

Shooting 40% from 3 and runs the second unit well. I’d definitely like to see Jose play over Naji and sort of Dyson. The only reason I might play Dyson over Jose is his potential if he develops offensively.

Willie knows what he has in Jose. Dyson had been playing better, and I think Willie wants to give him every opportunity to solidify those backup PG minutes. With that said he’s been pretty bad 3 of the last 4 games, and if Willie goes back to Jose that’s a bad sign.

If we're intending to make a trade, it make sense why some of the playing time for certain players look wonky right now.

Dyson defensively has been really good

Buwahahahahaah! Dyson is a borderline elite defender, and decent facilitator. His offensive game leaves something to be desired but you play Dyson.

I think Jose is going to start getting the Willy Hernangomez treatment honestly

I'm not sure I'd say he's that great of a facilitator. He's averaging 2.7 assists in 22 mpg. Stretch that out over starter minutes and it's still not that great. Last year Jose averaged about the same minutes Dyson is this year and was at 3 apg. Facilitating isn't really a reason I see him getting any minutes over Jose. I think it's strictly defense and development.

Although, if the playoffs started right now, I think Jose is more playoff ready.

That's just the product of his role. When we are healthy, we want the ball in BI/Z/CJ hands to facilitate. Look at the Dallas game where he was the primary facilitator for the entire game. His PG skillset was on full display.

I wonder if his minutes are down because they intend him to be a piece in an upcoming trade.

Every team has their own Alvarado. He can’t even secure minutes on a team without a true PG. He’s fine in spurts but if you’re building a condensed, bulletproof playoff rotation he can’t be a part of it

Agreed with this

I do love his value and wish he had a spot in the regular season rotation. I think he's a more impactful player than Naji and Naji would be out of the rotation.

I don't buy into the notion that that can't happen because they play different positions. We have plenty of overlap where Naji plays, I don't think it would be much of an issue for Jose to get Naji's 10-12 minutes a night and would prefer that.

But as long we play a rotation like last night going forward maximizing the shooter lineups, I can live with Naji over Jose if that's what I think is the only lineup gaffe we have going forward.

Another thing I used to argue for wayyyyy back before Nance starting getting injured, and I'd like to argue for it again now that Nance looks healthy, I'd like to see Nance start over Val.

Minutes don't have to change for the 2. But my reasoning is, Val is less valuable playing with BI and Zion and CJ all together.

I like the idea of Val more playing a higher % of his minutes with only 1 of those dudes, and Val can be more of a focal point.

So, at worst, maybe Val loses a couple of minutes, but he can probably produce just as much because doing so would give him higher usage.

Just a thought I've always had, but haven't talked about much because Nance was not healthy for so long.

Jose is essentially a gadget player. You bring him in here and there for a spark or when you need someone to agitate an opposing PG or team...

But its pretty clear that he is a limited guy. Just too small and not talented enough to play big minutes

Teams just consistently punished the Pels defense by forcing Jose to switch onto bigs.

Basically the same thing that happened in the Lakers game with Jaxson was happening every game, but other bigs don’t suck like Jaxson sucks.

And once one team did it, every team started doing it.

Dyson is a long perimeter G/F defender. That is too valuable compared to a smaller guard. That guards has to be super elite offensively.

Alvarado is a good player and an NBA player. The Pels just have too much solid depth making it hard for legitimate rotation players to find minutes.

If you started Trey and Nance, it makes so much more sense.

Then your second unit you bring in Herb and Val and him and CJ kill the backups.
