That would work, but it's not forecasted to get above freezing until around noon tomorrow.

Fair enough.

I would have anticipated earlier.

But yet we are the ones crying because little Johnnie has to ride a school bus that does have air conditioning

It's the wussification of our society

I'm not. In the 80's we didn't shut down for shite. During my freshman year 1986-87, it snowed 2 inches in January, and 2 again in April. We went to school both days and had snowball fights in the parking lot. The April snow did make us cancel our baseball game, because when it melted the field was too wet to play. Both of those storms today would shut the schools down 2 days.

They're saying 15 hours of below freezing temps in St Tammany. I'm guessing for kids and bus safety.

Haha. I agree with not spending on the vehicles.

I doubt many have actually looked at their parish spend. You might be surprised by the nuggets you find in there lol.

I guess. Don't want to jump on the Old Man Yells At Cloud bandwagon here, but this seems a little silly. I totally understood why they were closed today. But we've been out and about this afternoon and everything is normal, just cold.

But no precipitation, so most streets should be fine, after thawing out late this afternoon.

Archdiocese of Nola schools open and Jefferson Parish Public open.

I was hoping for at least a late morning start in St. Tammany but I guess I will be stuck at home with kids again trying to work.

None of this is unexpected at all. I just don’t understand why they need to wait so long to make the call.

Is the fifteen hour below freezing thing a standing policy?

Right.

The hourly forecast has been pretty dead on for a few days now and don't think anything changed in the forecast from yesterday to today.

St. Tammany Schools could have announced that both Tuesday and Wednesday would be closed, yesterday, instead of waiting and announcing today.

I was wondering the same thing. What makes 15 hours significant? I think it’s just the best they could come up with

I understand being cautious, but that isn’t what this feels like.

Salt don’t melt the ice in these temps, plows aren’t out when it’s not snowing.
Our busses are rolling.
