Could've hit 25MM if you weren't WFH. 20MM doesn't sound impressive these days.
Just like the guy above said. He does a lot of stuff around the house during work. Could've spent that time working.
I said I think performance suffers overall. You can come in here and give me your EOY numbers all day. And I can say you could've done better.
Are you under the impression that sitting in an office somehow makes you work more? I assure you that I fricked off just as much when I had an office job, than I do while working from home. At the end of the day, the work gets done or it doesn't. It doesn't matter how much time it takes or where it was done from.

Don’t understand how people work from home with kids around. It’s a fricking nightmare.
Yea nothing productive is happening today with daycare closed.

If you work from home and your internet is working, you go to work. If it isn’t, you don’t. You could always just lie about it though.

It's a good setup. I think companies will miss out on qualified people because those people don't want to move to your location. I can see both sides.

And I could say they could have done worse, and no one knows which is true.

I only go into the office once a month.
If it's my day with the kids I usually just take the day off. Too much of a distraction for me and they end up getting too much screen time and eventually get super board. Especially on days like today when it's too cold to go play outside.

Working away here
Me too!
But do most businesses actually pay people who stay home when it's inclimate weather? If a business is closed, why would they pay someone? If you choose to not come in because you are worried about the roads, it's on you. We require our employees to take PTO if they stay home. (I work for a hospital, so we do get hotel rooms nearby for essential personnel.)

Salary, they have to if they are closed.
Hourly, they don’t but some do to be nice.

Nobody in the office today. So soft.

No, we're working. If the house has power we can work.
Congrats on that tradeoff of driving one hour every day to get the occasional snow day though!

Many businesses around here are shut down for the day. I'd figure the work from home crowd can still check in and get work done.
I think the new thing is instead of when offices shuts down everyone gets off, they just say go work from home instead (those with those businesses with those capabilities)

I think I'm clearly coming out way ahead working that 1 extra day, while the non WFH spends wayyyyy more hours just commuting and getting ready for work in a year than I do
But also, the WFH crowd probably gets that day back on days where there's no power. IF there's no power, I don't work. You go in the office and work, so you're still not even coming out ahead.

No, not at all the situation. More like people don't work and do personal errands and goof off.

quote:Bingo, and my above post may have misinterpreted your post I quoted now that I see this reply from you
I think what it really shows us is most people don't require 40 hours per week to do what they need to do maybe.
WFH allows all the personal things to be done during work hours.. that's why they take less leave.
But yea, I think most or let's say many jobs do not require a legit 8 hours of work. You're just there for 8 hours. So if someone who WFH gets some laundry and dishes done and whatever else during work hours, you can't really point to that as a blanket statement as to why WFH is bad because the person in the office is also not working 8 hours. They're just siting at their desk not working while someone else is at home doing dishes, but ultimately, not working is not working...there's no difference.
If you're salaried and getting shite done, then who cares anyway...

It actually does sound like you think goofing off is only for those who WFH. Oops
