No, not at all the situation. More like people don't work and do personal errands and goof off.

My wife works from home every once in a while, but her company continuously monitors her laptop.

Does that sound like a supervisor looking over her shoulder? I'd say yeah, it's worse...

Eh I am a manager and I love it. I manage 2 supervisors and they have 20 total employees. We do 3 days in/2 days out.

PTO days are down substantially for my staff. Productivity is just as good, and is actually better on the 2 WFH days. We still have the benefits of seeing each other face to face 3 days a week. Hybrid seems to be a good model for us.

You don't get snow days if you work from home. Office people don't either, you work from home.

I’m still working today unless I lose power. Transformers blew across the street a little while ago. Fingers crossed.

I have a separate work space and they know to stay out when I’m working.

The problem with WFH is that most people doing it don’t take it seriously. You need a workspace no matter where you are. Get dressed. Keep normal hours. Have the same (or in my case better) equipment that you’d have in the building.

If you’re working in the living room with kids running around or in your bed in your underwear it’s probably not going to work.

My wife works from home. She’s been at it since 6am. I’m going in late, so I threw her a bone and did the dishes and cooked breakfast for the kids. Hopefully she remembers that when she’s about to text me this afternoon to tell me they are being asaholea.

I think what it really shows us is most people don't require 40 hours per week to do what they need to do maybe.

WFH allows all the personal things to be done during work hours.. that's why they take less leave.

Anyone who has worked in an office building and pays attention to what everyone is doing already knows this.

You have people sitting in bathroom stalls for an hour, people wandering around talking about sports, people in cubes surfing the internet. People hanging out in the break room having conversations.

There isn’t some magical productivity enforcement mechanism in an office building. Loafers will loaf.

That's a good thing for morality and productivity. Before, you were sitting in the office just wasting away during downtime. Now you can get a few things done around the house while doing the exact same volume of work, likely at better quality.

My kids are well behaved for the most part so it’s not bad now.

But in 2020 I had a 3 year old and a newborn and working from home with that was tough.

I’ll gladly work from today versus having to go to the plant or some yard and freeze my dick off.

I can take a day off whenever I want. Today I need to finish a financial statement so hopefully I don't lose power.

No - that's part of why we work from home, nothing stops us unless the internet/electric fails.

I've been doing it 7 years after commuting 45 min each way for years.

I had to build myself a detached office behind the house. Couldn't frickin do it anymore.

My wife thought me in house meant me need to do house stuff. She couldn't stop herself.
