He needs therapy in a non-progressive state to accept his biology and to stop wanting to be lied to about his condition. He can dress however he wants, be into fashion, barbie dolls, or whatever, but no matter what the left pushes he will never be a real female. No amount of surgery or forced lies labeled as inclusiveness will ever change that fact, and deep down trans no this which is why they require such an extreme celebration of their choice.

We used to treat those who see themselves physically vastly different than the reality, but now we lie to them and tell them they are correct. It’s all for politics.

Out of curiosity, what is the sin he's committing by wanting to change genders?

Maybe someone can answer this better than I can, but God is explicitly clear about gender roles and how He assigns genders (He made them male and female and they were blessed).

If you “change your gender” you’re not only saying God was wrong, but you’re also saying that you’re going to do this correctly. So it’s the worst sin, the one that Lucifer was guilty of. Pride.

EDIT: Not suggesting at all that the OP’s friend should approach his son in this way. As a Christian I wouldn’t even do this. Nobody changes their mind about anything by being called a sinner.

The son who wants to be a girl is 25 years old? If so, nothing the dad can do.

He's 25. As a parent all you can do is love him (her).

Does this “kid” live at home? If so, stop enabling a bullshite lifestyle choice. Give him 3 months to get out which is generous. He will have to find a job. Dressing as a female will close many many doors to employment. He likely won’t have the luxury to indulge in this nonsense. Assuming he is not being supported financially, then explain he has the freedom to do as he wishes but encourage counseling to accept who he is, an adult male. That isn’t changing.

What is his environment like? I assure you someone is reaffirming this and they did not come up with this themselves

A 25-year-old who told his father he wants a sex change has probably been in therapy for a long time already.

Man, I have no idea how I would deal with this. Probably just beg them to consider a life just being a gay person and how you would love them unconditionally and would be there for them for anything. But I would do absolutely anything to get them to not go down that road of gender altering.

Transitioning seems to lead to several different MAJOR issues, not only physically but more important psychologically. I'd love my kid for as long as he was on this earth and beyond, but fricking around with medical science here leads to some terrible, terrible situations.

Have him look into cannabis induced psychosis.

Certain young people are predisposed to have mental illness issues after consuming marijuana.

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/heavy-cannabis-use-linked-to-schizophrenia-especially-among-young-men/

https://www.wsj.com/us-news/marijuana-depression-psychosis-869490d1

quote:

The research, likely the largest epidemiological investigation conducted to date that directly focused on the cannabis-psychosis question, delved into Danish health histories from 1972 to 2021. The study examined health records of 6.9 million people and found that up to 30 percent of schizophrenia diagnoses—about 3,000 in total—could have been prevented if men from 21 to 30 years old had not developed cannabis use disorder. The comparable prevention percentages for the broader age range of 16 to 49 were 15 percent for men and 4 percent for women.

All this trans stuff started happening after they started with medicinal use weed and then recreational legalization.

quote:

A 2017 study in the American Journal of Psychiatry found even one psychotic episode after cannabis use increased the risk of developing schizophrenia or bipolar disorder by 47%. The risk was found to be higher for those between the ages of 16 and 25.

Also the fact that the majority of those who "transition" end up regretting the choice.

Nothing. The time to fix that kid is long past. And the trouble is not him transitioning, it’s him wanting to transition.
