In fact, I think that interpretation is charitable. "How I feel" in my words above really stands in for "my fetish." That's what this is. It comes from watching pornography and chasing a deviancy rush.
I can't imagine an ethical system that would countenance letting a fetish take over one's life like that. It's a waste. It's insanity.

Tell him he owes it to you as the father that raised him to get his hormones checked before doing anything else. It's likely his hormones are wacked and a simple supplement will have him feeling like a man that wants to pound pussy like a jackhammer and he will be forever grateful you didn't blindly accept his desire to whack off his dick. But if his hormones are normal and he still wants to switch, let him/her go.

A buddy has a daughter who came out as a lesbian when she was 11 or so. She was adamant about it, and has never once shown any interest in boys.
Her older sister said she was trans a few years ago, and of course her liberal mother supported it. ...but the lesbian daughter said it was a complete fabrication for attention.
She stood her ground the entire time constantly calling her out for being a liar. Was constantly punished by the mother. Never waivered one single bit.
Her older sister decided she doesn't want to be a boy anymore. And the younger one is now raising holy hell that she was punished for it
I made the comment that she will clearly be the man whenever she gets a girlfriend.
Her comment of, "well if one of these boys ever starts acting like a real man maybe I can stop dealing with these crazy bitches." might be the most alpha thing a woman has ever said.

Can’t do much since he is 25. But therapy could help.. I have never understood why someone would want to change that way.

Daughter raised by liberal mom thinks lowly of men so she “becomes a lesbian”. Then, seeing this, younger sibling decides she’s trans (when she’s really not). Nope, no social conditioning or grooming going on in that house. No playbook whatsoever.
I’m convinced that the majority people (particularly women) claiming to be LGBTQ nowadays are doing it because it’s trendy or taught.

I have been healthy all my life but a couple yrs ago I started having aging issues like cholesterol, BP, arthritis, etc. Taking medicine even for maint issues sucks! I loved it when I never had to take anything.
So that makes me think that the people pushing the trans life have no fricking idea how bad these victims are going to feel having to take mouthfuls of highly complex meds every day with all sorts of unintended consequences especially as they get older. Taking meds is bad if you dont absolutely need it.
