I think Kelly really wants the 10th win. Keep the same coaches they are use too. House and steeples if they are getting replaced prob know. They still have a job to do.

I do believe this is true, ride out the season with who we have, get past ESD then changes come after all the bowls are over, possibly NFL playoffs if we are looking there

I think that is probably part of it. I think he also wants to allow these coaches to move on without being fired.

Fans think this is a video game, but these are real people and treating them with respect and letting them "voluntarily" leave without being fired means a lot to them and other future coaches notice this.

This is how Saban does it to, by the way.

Let Pete Pick 'em and if we can't play mano on mano then We need a better Recruiter for cb's! I think Chevis is better than Corey but both are better than the one we got

I understand. It’s hard being on the outside and worrying changes may not be made. Probably a product of my own impatience. In the long run I would rather treat coaches well so we have the ability to continue to hire big names. You make a great point.

Again, I know personnel is part of that reason, but we pay House a tremendous amount of money, and we have more “talent” than many other SEC schools who’s defenses were far better than ours
I'm going to disagree with you there.

Guys from 2021 ("talent" in the program) who played much the past 2 years, would be Major Burns, Sage Ryan and Maason Smith, and that's really about it.

LSU needed to go get Mekhi Wingo on the line in 2022, Jordan Jefferson in 2023.
Edge rushers- Swinson and Shand this year.
Linebackers, they had to play Perkins as a freshman (2022), went and got Speights in 2023 to plug in.

They had to load up the entire secondary in 2022 (Brooks, Bernard-Converse, Garner, Foucha), and a complete restock in 2023 (Chestnut, Alexander, Harris, Sam).

Special teams- Punter (Bramblett) and returner (Clayton).

On offense, portal brought:
QB (Daniels), RBs (Cain, Diggs), WRs (Lacy, Anderson), one of your starting O Line (Frazier).

Freshmen who had to step up:
2022 Campbell (LT), Jones (RT), Perkins (LB), Taylor (TE).
2023 we saw Toviano (DB), Stamps (DB) and Jackson (RB).

Major Burns was a portal guy from 2021.

All of these guys played a lot, meaning they were better than anyone else on the roster.
Speights, Chestnut and Alexander were below-average, but still able to walk in and start.

LSU being loaded with talent is a myth.

Colin Simmons going to join his Duncanville brothers at LSU?

People keep asking this without considering two critical factors.

1. Bo Davis was neither his primary's nor his secondary recruiter at Texas. How do we know how strong their connection is?

2. In his commitment post he said “Texas has given me an opportunity to provide for my family” meaning he took the biggest number. Period. Coaching changes won’t affect his decision. Only a bigger bag.

It seems to me that it never works out when you hear a coach is a done deal and it will be 2+ weeks until its announced.

Isn’t that what happened when we got Matt House? He was still coaching in the NFL so it wasn’t announced for weeks. Am I remembering that correctly?

And I guess one could say it didn't work out.

He told my BIL last time around that what LSU offered wasn't close to his Texas salary. It was a money issue.

I asked my BIL, they have a professional relationship for years, text him about taking the LSU job yesterday. He neither confirmed or denied interest, but said Merry Christmas.

Combining this reply with your other thread, I guess you're claiming that House stays but we've got some upgrades in position coaches coming, such as Bo Davis for DL?

I think House is staying unfortunately. Missed my melt thread on New Year’s Day? It’s Les Miles’ level arrogance to keep him.

I corrected u the other day and I hate to have to do it again but House = gone and there is 0.0% chance Malone is our oc. Not even in the conversation. Enjoy the news the next week plus! No need for any additional melts

Will be his Lou Tepper. The downfall.

So you're hinting things looking good with Bo Davis?
