Tell you what, put your money where your mouth is. I’ll pull a 4 wheeler uphill (reverse direction as the trip mentioned) and you as my passenger. I’ll maintain speed limit or better, and I’ll guarantee 32 mpg. If i don’t get that, I’ll pay you 1000 dollars for wasting your time. But if get that, you owe me 1000 and can frick off. I won’t even make you apologize because i could care less about your opinion.

My 2.7L ecoboost went out on me at 65,000 miles this summer. I know it’s anecdotal because there are lots of people that have Fords with 200k miles but personally I’m in a Sierra now and wouldn’t own another Ford.

I actually did not, he said i went 50, but i was going 60-75 mph with the exception of towns in between. And he said down A hill. I would hardly call 148 miles down a hill. Y’all are acting like I did something like this and claimed i got this kind of mileage.
The fact is the truck can get 30-35 mpg uphill, downhill, sideways. And everyone is just saying BS. I hardly drive the speed limit, while i wouldn’t bet money on it , but if did drive the speed limit and did no hard accelerations. i could probably get 35 mpg or more uphill. Which is what you are saying i can’t do.

I never made some ridiculous claim that i got 35 mpg going 80 mph up mountain Everest, and you are acting like it’s something that can’t be done.

I posted your exact words, and his. You did exactly what he said you did. Then on top of that you posted your average and best mileage tanks, further showing how out of the ordinary your 35.7mpg was. This is a really weird hill for you to die on.

Rumor is if you drive it hard the rods and other parts dont hold up. if you running a turbo or supercharger you need beefier engine components.

I do too. I have the same truck, the best I’ve done is 36.4 on the flattest piece of LA road I’ve ever been on. And that was babysitting the throttle just to see how high I could get it. I don’t know how this could be done towing.

It all depends on your driving conditions. I have to drive 60 miles to get anywhere with a speed limit of over 60, so a lot of my driving ends up being in that 60-65 mph range. If i had to go 70-75 i agree i wouldn’t get that. But i was going 60-65 on country roads.
I wasn’t towing a trailer, which i don’t know if it would have hurt or helped me in this case. Everything was in the bed of the truck or inside the truck. Seeing as i have not hit that mileage empty, i assume the extra weight helped me on the downhills. The truck has enough torque it didn’t make too much of a difference going up.
I’m not trying to bullshite anyone, my first statement was that is what i got hauling this this this. I thought it was impressive regardless if i was going 60 or 100, uphill or downhill, towing or not towing. The last time i even brought it up, people said i was full of shite that i got 30 mpg empty anywhere.
A lot of people don’t even know about these trucks and automatically think that they cost a lot more. But compared to my tundra i had before i am saving 150 a month in fuel costs. Oil changes are cheaper (the oil change itself is a little more by 20 dollars, but the Duramax has a longer manufacture recommended duration between oil changes). I haven’t gotten to the fuel filter change yet, so I’m not sure on the cost of that. But if it was 100 dollars my cost per mile is still way over the tundra i had.
This is a fun truck with a lot of power , I've been a Toyota guy for the past 13 years , and while i still love the tundra. I didn’t like the new one, i would have bought the new one if they had come out with the 5.7 or something equivalent to it. I stumbled across it because i was looking at the Chevy 6.6 gas 2500 and the Chevy 6.2 1500. I saw this and was impressed with all the numbers.
The motor is new to 2023, so for all i know it could be a flaming heap of shite down the road. But for the 17,000 miles i have drive in 6 months, it has been everything it was made out to be.

I just purchased the 2.7 ecoboost in Sept. I have been debating on purchasing an extended warranty. You aren't the 1st person to share this similar type of story.

There is one trim level of the F-150 that I like a lot (it’s the one with the two tone paint).
Horror stories like this just make me reluctant to get rid of my Toyota. I like the idea of being able to keep a vehicle for 150,000 miles. At least two people I know traded their F-150’s because of a constant stream of problems and issues. I don’t know what engines they had though.
And no, I don’t care for the new Tundra at all. I’m probably just going to wait it out and hope that Ford figures this out. Or buy a Sierra.

Does the LZO Duramax still have the oil pump driven by the internal oil soaked Kevlar belt which the LM2 has??

It’s still there but they “upgraded” the belt, I’ve heard that it was the same part number which would mean they didn’t upgrade anything . They extended the recommended service from 150k to 200k miles.

I had a 2011 Eco-Boost, and loved it. I pulled my Mastercraft several times to/ from False River. I notice it struggled up the bridge.
In 2017, I traded it in and got the V8. It's been a pretty solid truck and I now tow about 7,000-8,000 lbs on a trailer from time to time for work. I don't really notice that I'm pulling it.
I'm now in the market for a new truck. If I'm towing up to 8,000 lbs, what's the recommended truck for this? Maybe towing twice a month for about an hours commute. Can the 3.5 handle this? Is this a jump to a 2500?

Look up granger ford’s extended warranty website. They sell Ford’s warranty at a little above cost it seems. Paid half of what the local dealers wanted for it.
