I had a guy come fix something at the house and he left me with this terrible mess on my exterior wall. I have used him before and he was fine. Won’t be using him again. Any way to remediate it?

ETA: after a hour plus of research. I have tried bleach on a small area, WD40 on another and tomorrow I’m going to get acetone and CPVC. I’ll check in the morning to see if the first 2 worked

Damn. That guy was NOT having a good day.

Have no idea if its possible to get out of porous brick. Seems unlikely. Maybe it will fade out over time.

The purple is primer. Try bleach.

I hate that shite along with the blue glue.

Take it from someone who has plumbed up fish hatcheries several times…just use clear pvc cleaner (yellow label) and the clear cement (green label not red for Oatey brand, though I prefer weld on brand)

I’ll be interested in knowing OP, I’m not sure. I’d imagine something will remove it.

I’m not a plumber but that looks like a clean out so it’s low/ no pressure. I wouldn’t say this is the sign of a bad plumber, but a really good plumber would know to use clear glue and primer as said above on something that is seen like that as it just looks better. Plus no mess.

Did he lose the little brush and just pour the primer? That looks terrible.

Damn did you piss him off on the first job he did and he came back to get revenge this time around.

Sorry but I got nothing on how to remove it. But it seems like acetone should work.

Geez man that is a hack job. Clear primer will get some of it off but brick is very porous. I doubt it'll get 100% of it. Steel brush, clear primer and a pressure washer would be where I'd start. We don't ever use purple primer on finish work for this reason. Looks like he kicked the jug over and said frick it. No way you should've paid this guy until he made it right. That blue glue will probably hold up fine above slab but in the future if y'all ever see a "plumber" using that stuff, tell him to pack it up and give someone else a call.

Start with PVC cleaner then pressure wash
If that doesn't work, lacquer thinner then pressure wash
If that doesn't work, muriatic acid then pressure wash

Pure acetone and blotting, not much else is going to touch that stain. Unless the job requires code inspection I no longer use a separate PVC primer, it's unnecessary with PVC pipe formulations and manufacturing techniques over the last 20+ years. I use a Oatey Fusion, forget having that purple crap leak onto my tools and work bags.

Don’t know how I could have. He came in, gave me a price, I agreed to it, he did the work, I paid him, and he left.

Some inspectors require colored primer to show that the joint was primed. Not sure if that is applicable (this job might not need to be inspected).

But regardless that is a really shitty job.

Damn, that looks like I did it. Would muriatic acid take it off?

Yeah, I was thinking muriatic acid, too. I doubt much else will touch it once it soaked in and dried.

In my experience clear primer just dilutes the dye and you get a larger, lighter-purple mess.

ETA: some YouTube videos show that if you pour down enough Oatey clear PVC primer and soak the liquid into a sufficient number of big, clean rags it might give you a decent result.

That purple cementing job sucks, but the piping design sucks worse because you can only snake downhill from that cap.

When you need to run a snake back into the house it will be damned difficult because he didn't install a close-radius, double sanitary tee (cross) with two cleanouts.
