Al Michaels is done- NBC removes him from the playoffs

NBC is reportedly parting ways with legendary broadcaster Al Michaels ahead of the NFL playoffs.
The 79-year-old was unaware that his role was in jeopardy last month, Andrew Marchand of the New York Post reported Tuesday.
Michaels reportedly said he believed that he was still going to call a postseason contest on NBC, but did not know who else would be working.
“It’s in my deal,” he said when Marchand mentioned NBC’s uncertainty in November. “Where are you hearing that from? That’s part of my deal. Are you hearing something that I’m not hearing?”
His absence from the playoffs will mark the end of a storied run, as no one has called more Super Bowls on television than he has. Michaels and Pat Summerall are tied with 11 assignments to the NFL’s biggest game.

At least he gets to nap through three more Amazon games.

That's a shame. I like Al.

Terrible news imo he's still a top 4 nfl pbp man when he's engaged (which he would be for playoffs).

Bad form by NBC. Mistreating a legend.

This appears to be a lame move on NBC's part. If it was part of his deal, why not let him do it?
It'd be one wild card game, not the Super Bowl or anything. Doing this a month before the playoffs is weird timing, too.

Yesterday someone here said Fox needs to hire Al Michaels. People still think he's 60 for some reason.

He's still better than Tirico when properly motivated.

I would like him to do one more so that I at least know this is the last time I’ll be hearing Al call a playoff game. He’s the best to ever do it and the fans deserved to get a good send off.

Done with NBC
Not with Amazon or his career as thread title implies

Good, he’s been sleepwalking through his games.

Yeah, not many Legends left. Stay classy NBC.

Ahh great. They gonna roll out Collinsworth’s kids to do an NFL game? Nepotism at its finest.

Reddit and the NFL hate Al. Al’s one of the only honest PBP guys in the game. The quality of the NFL has been shite this year and he’s been open about it and hasn’t fake hyped the garbage play we’re seeing

That's no way to treat tGOAT

Good - old, boring, doesn't seem like he enjoys it anymore. Replace him with Chris Fowler on Amazon.

Just heard on radio 3 of the games will be Tirico and Collinsworth, the 4th will be Noah Eagle and Blackledge.

They’ll replace him with a former player with no broadcasting experience, but because they played the game that automatically makes them good public speakers. Add in the trend that every second of airtime must be filled with nonsense talking points means I usually have mute on.
