re: If nurses across the US simply got paid more then we wouldn’t have a nursing shortage

If there is no nursing shortage, then why are all of these travel nursing agencies offering crazy 3 month contracts that pay close to $6,000 a week?
Because hospitals fired those not willing to take the “vaccine.”
Then, they replaced them (at exorbitant rates) as travel nurses.
Once the Covid funding ran out, the hospitals realized that they chose poorly.
Your boy Joe, and his mandates, are the real culprit.
See the military.

Most of these professional shortages are due to our public school system churning out motherfrickers too dumb to make through the professional classes.
Combined with a class of people that that aren’t motivated by the work, aka quitters that bitch about the student loans for the college they attended in some half-closed mall in their town.

to be fair, agency and travel work for nurses has been around far longer than covid.
It just wasn't as utilized near as much as it is now. Nurse's are burned out with hospital greed and are realizing they can do the same work for better pay working for an agency rather than working directly for the hospital.
This problem isn't going to change anytime soon bc hospital corporations as a whole, aren't willing to adjust the pay rate for staff nurses.
I am not saying that in every market/location the pay should be 169$/hr or whatever, but it does need to increase.

What’s their profit?
Also, what’s the gross revenue?

Until this summer, the same hospital group offered her as much as she was making as a traveler - only catch is she's in a float pool for (5) local hospitals. With the great pay and benefits, I'm retiring a year earlier than I planned.

So maybe the hospitals are wising up.

Well when a burger flipper is at $20/hr everyone else will need to make more.
And you think healthcare costs suck now? We already pay nurses more here than the rest of the world.

Which is why nursing unions are important. If there was a strong nursing union presence in all states then we wouldn’t be having this problem of shortages of nurses.
The entire point of a union is to not compete for wages with your coworker.
I don’t want someone who is looking after my health to basically not get fired because they don’t have to even try. And why not just move to where they are paying nurses more? Kind of defeats the purpose if they are paying 8x more in another area. Because your union reps ain’t getting you $169/hr in Louisiana.
Ahh I see you got this off Reddit.
This is what the left has done. Made you all stupid.

Because they have to have a Bachelors Degree in RN now instead of just going to Nursing school.

If hospitals didnt force an experimental shot on their staff, then we'd also have more nurses.

would raise hourly RN wages to $169.00 an hour.
Ridiculous.

Nurses are quitters who couldn’t hack it in med school

while this is true to a small degree, the nursing shortage has been around far longer than covid/vax

How bad is the shortage in CA?
Anyone with knowledge. California has strong nursing unions and highest cost of living with state income tax etc etc.
That 169 is still a good wage but it balances out. Tell a bunch of folks in struggling states like Louisiana it turns heads. Also location. I got a text offer (get them daily) for travel jobs. One was Ventura California which a quick glance of map location seemed beautiful?? Other location were inland. Or south and inland. Palm Springs in the summer probably ain’t the best.

this is what it is going to take to get nursing pay up where it needs to be.
and sadly, it is at the ultimate expense to the patients. there are so many young, inexperienced nurses at the bedside these days, being trained by other young inexperienced nurses.
While I still work ICU part time because I truly love that type of nursing, I left that position as my primary job, to be paid better and have less stress.
