I’d say Elko strictly from a familiarity standpoint with A&M he knows how to recruit that area should hit the ground running not saying he’ll win and be elite but should better than Miss St

Lebby is the better hire all things considered.
A&M, with their resources should be able to pull someone better than Elko.
I think MSU faired pretty well with its hire.

Lebby might be the better hire, the coaches he’s spent time with, is very impressive. He’s worked with Kiffin, Josh Heupel and Brent Venables. Not too bad a mixture of coaches. Much of the same with his stops, Oklahoma, Baylor, UCF and Ole Miss.
Elko knows what he’s getting into. If he wanted out of Duke, he should have waited. aTm spent a lot, still spending a lot, they want results quickly.
Since RC left in 2002, it’s been a miss all around. 21 years of that? Once they leave aTm, those coaches are never the same. Maybe more like, once they get there, they are never the same.

Elko because he's an actual good coach. Lebby is not lol

Lenny considering the state of MSU. A&M could’ve and should’ve done much better than hiring somebody they already had familiarity with and basically keeping the same staff

Jimbo was a horrible waste of money and it showed on the field….At least he knows what he’s getting himself into….A&M is a weird culture it will kill them if TEXAS wins another natty before them……

Relative to the programs, I'd say Lebby. Overall, though, it's Elko.

A&M should be able to hire anyone yet they got their Chizik because they were familiar. It doesn’t matter who Miss St hires. It’s a 4-5 year job at best regardless.

A&M tried for the 5 star and after they said no, got the high 3 star and all the fans are saying they wanted him all along and don’t need the 5 star

Both seem like average hires.

Elko for sure. He's already had success as a HC, even if it's only a few years at Duke.

Lebby, solely because of im hiring a up and comer in today's CFB, I want an offensive coach.
At a school like Miss st, the focus has to be on offensive scheme. No way the can get them players to have an elite defense.
So at the very least, lebby is a better hire for miss st than Elko is for aTm. Not directly comparing the coaches themselves

Lebby because it’s irrelevant who A&M hires. 8-4 is their ceiling as long as their big money guys can’t let go of their overinflated egos long enough to admit they aren’t football coaches.

Elko. Lebby has the potential to be Joe Moorehead 2.0

I think Lebby is a steal for State. Elko is a solid hire for A&M specifically. They tried the splash hire. It didn't work. They need a coach to rebuild things from a structural perspective with sound discipline. That's what the Aggies need.
But Lebby is a steal of a hire for State similar to what Mullen was for State relatively speaking.

Well if Elko retains most of the current staff, it will be best for them from a business standpoint. Already paying out $75 million for Jimbo, A & M won't have to worry about shelling out much additional payout,
Also if he retains most of the defensive staff, he already has a jump on that recruiting side of the ball.
He could replace Bobby Petrino for his own guy from Duke
