almost has to be a residency. It's not a venue where a touring band can throw up their stage and speaker stacks. It takes some preparation to integrate that screen. The U2 show was spectacular in that regard. I was there last week.
It’s not like integrating a screen requires a band on site though? I mean there are professional audio visual guys that can do this while the bands are elsewhere?

All they need to do is add Taylor Swift and they'll get their money back.

I don’t think many people are traveling to Las Vegas due to the current economic downturn.
Had a business professor once tell me there are 3 recession proof industries: drugs (alcohol), sex, gambling.
Vegas has all 3.

Less than two months after its grand opening, MSG Sphere in Las Vegas has reported losses of $98.4 million.
How is this possible?

Because it's a fake statistic. The reported losses of 98.4 million only accounts for 2 days before the quarter ended. It generated 7.8 million in 2 days before the quarter closed.

They don’t need to be there, but It’s a lot of work for a team of audio/video/lighting engineers, so the costs are too much for a single show.

You are assuming that since you date other men, all the men in the forum do. I don't swing that way, but...hey...if that is your thing. It is 2023.
I am more of a Pink Floyd or ZZ Top type guy.
I'll bet you would fight one of those KarTrashian bitches to suck Kanye or Tyga's dick.

It's a great concept and could be huge. But U2? And some earth show is all they have. Nobody going to that crap.
Do some pink Floyd, big arse raves. Dana white said ufc is going soon.
U2. I mean what you expect

That will sell out instantly

Cant wait for the ufc show. Ufc does an excellent job with production and no doubt dana is going to go all out for this show and set a new bar for combat sports.

my wife went a few weeks ago, tickets were $450 and up, if you could even get a ticket. All they had left were single tickets
the financials in the article are misleading

I mean it was a massive investment, they will be operating at a loss for a while but the shows they have there are doing quite well. Not sure why people want this to fail, is it "Libturd" in some type of way?

Vegas is always playing the long game. They are willing to take the short term loss for the long term profit.
The town was essentially founded on that premise.

Um, a lot of the U2 were over $1000 get in on the secondary, I don’t think any have been less than $500 or so for good seats.

Anything they report before year 5 is strictly for tax purposes.
Tax purposes likely play a part but if they are having significant problems with getting revenue, which certainly can happen in a bad economy, they may end up in a really bad spot.
The oil state economies were so bad in the mid-80s due to oil prices bottoming out that all entertainment started avoiding the area. No music, no pro wrestling, even all the escort agencies in New Orleans went bust.
When people aren’t buying hookers in New Orleans, things are bad.

I was there last week. Was able to take some awesome pictures and videos in front of the sphere without going in for $300 per person.
