Is there a possibility the same thing will happen here in the United States in the near future? Plus, will other countries follow?

UK has to prioritize public health in order to keep healthcare costs down.

USA...not so much.

it's weird to see this drug outlawed but others made legal (like weed)

Government is picking drug winners and losers.

'Follow the money ' must be at work here.

Friend,

A society that bans alcohol, tobacco, and other mind altering drugs is a society that cares about its citizens. Poisons like these have no place in a civilized world.

The is the logical conclusion of universal healthcare.

Why would you allow smoking, junk food, etc if you want government to pay for your healthcare? Can’t have it both ways.

I sure hope so. Tobacco has been the source of untold misery, morbidity and mortality for generations; and in earlier times the whole tobacco industry in the US was built on the backs of slave labor.

I predict that a black market will arise and people will buy their tobacco products that way. There will still be smoking but government will lose the tax revenue.

I’m not really a smoker but I do love a good Marlboro red out on the clay range.

Anyone stupid enough to prefer seeing Camilla instead of Diana naked, is too stupid for any position of public trust.

He goes to ribbon cuttings. He has no authority to ban anything (But I didn't read it because I couldn't care less about the "Royals").

Hell no. Tobacco lobby is too big. Government rakes in that tax money.

Great! Let's have competing gangs murder each other over bootleg cigarettes. Sounds like a solid plan.

Tobacco is way too easy to grow in the US.

A ban would simply lead to a black market and crime, just like alcohol during prohibition
