After watching men’s basketball tonight they look like a middle of the pack SEC team.

I know the competition was not much but Baker was impressive and guard play was solid. They ran the offense, made open shots, boxed out well and got back on defense. Just good fundamental basketball. At first glance this team just might surprise us in a good way.

Middle of the pack would be a monster improvement.

They are shooting the ball waaaay better, but I'll wait until they play a team with a pulse. We looked good early on last year until we didn't and were atrocious. Glad to see them off to a nice start though.

Having to rely on a true freshman PG since Cook can't play is going to be tough.

Concerned about rebounding and pg play. But as of now it looks like this team can make shots and play a faster tempo (Subject to change)

They have some size, athleticism, and can stretch the floor. Probably not going to make it to the NCAA Tournament but will be competitive. Oh how far we have fallen.

Sorry, but that's not going to be the case.

Even if you somehow get Jalen Cook, we are a bottom SEC team.

I still think we will be a bottom feeder in the SEC. Every SEC team is going to have talent and guys that can stop Baker

I agree, middle of the pack SEC team, likely competing for an NIT spot.

We started the season 11-0 last year I'm pretty sure playing teams like this. Dayton will be our first test next week.

I was at the game last night. The things that I really liked was the shooting and hustle. I loved that we pressed the entire game. We didn't let up just because it was a 50 point game. We were using the court time to get better. I think this is a deep team so we should be able to press 40 minutes a game every game without too much problem.

If I had to put a guess on SEC record I'd say somewhere in the 6-9 wins range. Improvement, but the SEC is stacked so it's not going to be all smooth sailing.

This team is veteran. Looking at the roster you see a ton of Jr's, Sr's, and Grad Sr's. I'm hoping that presence will be good when times get tough.

losing Jalen Cook is huge, the guard play is just kind of bleh and now they have no depth. They have a few guys that can handle the ball ok enough (Stewart / Williams/ Wright / Hannibal) but no one really creates offense.

Williams' development will be one to watch. He will be forced into minutes now and could be a key program player going forward in years to come.

Tyrell Ward is prob my favorite player on team. He is just sneaky-active and i love his engagement. He is good enough offensively to potentially lead the team in ppg.

Reed is a wildcard, I think by next year will have established himself as a really good player in the league. He just needs minutes. Very skilled for his size but looks like a bull in a china shop. He will have his nights.

Baker should be steadying if nothing else. He's going to get a lot of cleanup buckets and I thought at times the offense ran pretty well through him. I think he is good as a 2nd or 3rd option but if he is the guy this team will not be good.

Stewart seems to be getting a feel for his teammates, but i think he needs to step up into a leadership role. He & Wright will have to share the burden creating offense for teammates & themselves.

That would be a step up from last year.
