I’m not mad at him. Still a fan. Hope he does his part in winning a championship this year before he puts an opposing team behind the 8 ball with a market deal
Agreed. I’ll always love Bregman but not enough to handcuff the franchise at the back end of his career. He can go do that somewhere else.

I've been holding off on telling this little story I have of Joe Espada.
One of his life-long friends, Dio, from Puerto Rico runs an Athlete's Performance Lab / Gym in the Austin area. Every off season the two of them get together and hold a one-day youth baseball camp. Usually in Florida, Hawaii, or Houston (anyway, I guess it varies year-to-year).
This past December 30, it was held in Austin, with only about 30 athletes. My son's baseball program was the program invited to host the camp. Ages were from 10U to 14U. Anyway, Joe spent a good 30 - 40 minutes talking with the kids about the importance of effort, accountability, dedication, and how they make up one's 'character'.
He then spent the next 4.5 hours working with the kids at various stations, agility, strength, conditioning and also the normal baseball practice drills of infield, outfield and baserunning.
He closed the session with another 30 - 35 minutes open discussion and answering players' questions about MLB, the process to make it, favorite food, favorite player, etc. He was very patient with all of the questions asked and gave each player plenty of opportunity for follow-up questions. He was positive that the Astros will be back in the World Series this season. Quite adamant, really.
The final question asked, "What team do you want to beat the most?"
Answer: "The Rangers. And there isn't a close second."
Anyway, that's my cool story for the day. Our new manager comes across as down-to-earth, humble, and very optimistic on the Astros.
I can't wait for the season to start.

For those in Houston area…are you still on cable to watch local games? I saw they came out with a new regional brand for Astros and rockets games called Space City Home Network.
This will only be available on Comcast, Uverse, Directv, Fubo.
Really unfortunate for YoutubeTv subscribers like myself and rather not resort to illegal streams again for games not on a national network

It's essentially the same network under different branding . As far as I know the carriage agreements are still the same as previous years. The new ownership just assumed operations and everything else is thr same.

Nobody you care about or probably have ever heard of will be playing but the first televised ST game is 2 weeks from yesterday.

Spring training TV games are like the McRib. "Nice, they're back..... . and I don't care again."

Gentlemen, we're on to baseball season (ignoring that awkward sports starved phase where I dabble in Nascar watching for a few weeks)
Curious what the offers will be because there's no way we're offering both of them market value.

Gotta win the World Series to keep up with the Chiefs.

i switched from uverse to directv streaming.
It is fine. Not a huge fan of the targetted ads.

Really unfortunate for YoutubeTv subscribers
My one gripe about YouTubeTV is that they don’t cater to me as a baseball fan. Can’t seem to work out deals for local teams AND they dropped MLB Network last year and doesn’t seem like they want to pick it back up.

It does suck but it's a much better service than Fubo, at least in my experience. I was constantly having to reboot Fubo on devices that YTTV worked perfectly on, so I gave up on it.

There was a recent article about Manfred's plans to launch a direct to consumer MLB.tv in market streaming package for 2025. He wants to have at least half the teams available at launch. A few years ago, MLB turned loose of streaming rights and gave them back to individual teams so they could do in market streaming through their network agreements like Bally and MASN have done. Now MLB is trying to re-acquire streaming rights, mostly starting with the defunct Bally teams.
Not sure what this means for the Astros. The team owns their in market streaming rights and also owns their network. They could make available in market streaming whenever they'd like. I'm not sure if it's beneficial to turn those rights back over to MLB for production. As owner of the network, the Rockets and Astros would be responsible for app development for streaming whereas MLB already has that infrastructure in place.
Just give me a simple streaming option Jim!

I finally remembered to cancel my Fubo after the regular season because we use YouTubetv except for watching the Astros…now I’m stuck with deciding to pay $70 a month extra or dropping YouTube and dealing with Fubo. Maybe with the ESPN app it will be tolerable.
