I think the fact that legalizing weed has done nothing to stop the illegal trade of it is a good indicator.
All the "tax and make it legal" people fail to realize the black market will still exist because taxing and making something legal also makes it a lot more expensive sending people to still seek out a cheaper alternative.
There are very few true black markets for goods in the United States. The ones that exist are mostly for items that were recently illegal or are heavily regulated.
Even though weed is legal, it is still heavily regulated and not legal on a widespread basis. I don't think the market, or the laws and regulations, have kept up.
There's no black market, to speak of, for alcohol or cigarettes in the U.S. It's basically drugs and guns, and prostitution.

That's a fair point

Lowering prices and eliminating the black market was never the point of decriminalization.
The point is creating a safe environment and treating people like free adults. This is supposedly America last I checked.

Some dude just went to jail for live-stream reselling. He made millions

Carrasquillo's legal troubles began in 2021 when federal agents raided his Philadelphia mansion, seizing assets worth over $20 million. The government accused him of running an illegal streaming service that offered access to premium cable channels without authorization. Carrasquillo claimed that he was not breaking any laws since he was not charging customers directly for the service but instead was using a donation-based model. Notwithstanding his protests, the government prosecuted him on many counts of wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and criminal copyright infringement. He pled guilty to the allegations in November 2022 and agreed to pay a $30 million fine.

Until you can buy a pack of cannabis cigarettes or gummys at Circle K like you can cigarettes or beer, then I don't really consider it a legal free market.

I’m sure people do. Hell, you can go to jail for making a meme these days.

for the price of one bag of groceries, you can get a bj from two prostitutes at the same damn time

is that a good price? i'm under the impression that high price LV hookers are $2k a night or something, but i'd figure $20 for a bj from a random street hooker.
Inflation, man. It's a down economy, hookers aren't immune.

And regarding black markets, or illegal activities, what do you think would happen if I went on one of these street corners where hookers are running wild, and set up a black jack table and just started running gambling action?
Or even if I did it in private?
They would send FBI agents to bust the door down with weapons drawn.

Why it is illegal to sell sexual favors is one of the strangest ideas in western culture.

Yep. It pretty much killed chance I had at a career in porn or swinging. GD morals.

Yeah, all those libertarian presidents and members of Congress have really ruined things.

Agreed, but the main reason it is illegal is because of what is happening in LA. If it were happening in private there would be way less resistance.
