I keep reading this so-called advantage FSU had last year by playing a game before LSU, but did it ever occur to anyone the advantages that LSU might've had? For one, that week 0 game gave LSU actual game film on FSU, while FSU had nothing for LSU which was made even more challenging due to LSU's entire new staff and quarterback. In addition, several FSU players got dinged up in that week 0 game while LSU was obviously completely fresh. In fact FSU's most dependable LB Amari Gainer suffered an injury and was out for LSU. If you watched UNC beat South Carolina last night you saw how good Gainer is. It's very doubtful Jayden Daniels has the rushing performance he had if Gainer played.

So the advantages work both ways. I call it a wash.

Because LSU fans use anything and everything as an excuse for a poor performance

I don’t think we have all the special teams frick ups that ultimately cost the game if we had a week zero game

We had a completely new coaching staff and roster Kelly taped together from scratch that had largely never played together.

It was a massive advantage highlighted by all the miscues we had still working out the kinks.

Recent history actually shows that teams playing their first game against a team not playing their first game cover about 60% of the time, like a 10 year sample. No one here want to hear that though.

Counterpoint though, in that specific situation, a game under lsu’s belt with new coaches, players, qb, etc, wouldve helped alot IMO

Mo nobody ever thought about that.

You mean to tell me you think game tape where they don’t show anything is better than actually playing a game. You Buffon

Because they’re typically dress rehearsals and why wouldn’t we want one going into a decent game?

EJ Manuel, one of your greatest QBs to step foot in your program said before the game that it was a huge advantage for FSU to have that extra game. So take it up with him dumbass.

Nabors obviously showed he’s one of the best wideouts/athletes in the country last year, but Kelly would’ve had absolutely no idea he shouldn’t return punts until an actual game time situation.

Just being able to work out that one kink likely changes the outcome of the game last year, let alone all of the other stuff - FG blocking scheme, OL adjustments, etc.

It was a guessing game with a new staff only knowing individual capabilities, not matching that ability to best serve the team. Now Kelly knows what he has.

Just like many of your previous posts, the more you speak, the more you reveal just how ignorant you are…

You actually think that FSU ran anything of use to LSU in that tune-up game? You are dumber than you look.

You can call it a wash, but I’d rather have a week zero tune up every year. Especially before a tough game.

Another advantage about having a week zero game is that you get two weeks off during the year.

I’d go over it more but it’s been covered to where you and the first responder still wouldn’t get it.

We were in week 1 of a rebuild.

Congrats on your win last year?

What does that have to do with today?

Oh nothing?

I haven't read much about that in quite a while

No, because there isn't really much of one.

For one, that week 0 game gave LSU actual game film on FSU, while FSU had nothing for LSU which was made even more challenging due to LSU's entire new staff and quarterback.

An advantage that is significantly offset by the lack of actual game experience by LSU's entirely new staff, multiple players including two freshmen O-linemen, several transfer players on defense and a transfer quarterback.

In addition, several FSU players got dinged up in that week 0 game while LSU was obviously completely fresh.

Players get dinged up in practice and every game of the season.

quote:

In fact FSU's most dependable LB Amari Gainer suffered an injury and was out for LSU. If you watched UNC beat South Carolina last night you saw how good Gainer is.

The same thing could have happened on FSU's first defensive series. I am told those things happen in games, seems like something like that happened to LSU.

quote:

It's very doubtful Jayden Daniels has the rushing performance he had if Gainer played

It's very doubtful Jayden Daniels has the rushing performance he had if Gainer played.

It's more doubtful he has any real impact on Daniels.

So the advantages work both ways. I call it a wash.

And you would be wrong.

There is a reason virtually every coach prefers to open with a team they have an advantage over.
