Did it with the wife in 2020 for the LSU national championship game of the 2019 season. Things in NOLA were INSANELY expensive (obviously), and we knew that if LSU won there was 0% chance we’d be headed back north to the BR area.

We trusted the listing to accurately state a private entrance straight into the room. It was true. We maybe spent 4-5 hours in the room overall.

Very much worth spending around $100 for that night than whatever hotel prices were for that same amount of time.

Totally situation dependent IMO.

EDIT: some may have been able to beat the price surge a bit with planning. We had a one year old and stumbled on some tickets a few days prior. We took what we could get at that price point. :geauxtigers:
When I was a MCIWS, I'd imagine 2-3 minutes. I'd imagine closer to 1-2 now as I'm a decade older and fatter/out of shape. :usa:

The food at Barrett's is better than the average bar fare too.

Their Reuben is fricking fantastic. Or beer. Or combo.

I dont know, Barrett’s is just great.

HomeGrown is fantastic breakfast/brunch.
Omaha Tap House is awesome after a game.

I didn’t go to any of the big name steakhouses or high dollar places (young kids both in 23 and 25), but if you’re wearing the P&G, the kind folks in Omaha will take care of you.
New mascot for the Baton Rouge hockey team if they come back as the Kingfish?
People can absolutely shite on the product off ice the Fed has put together. The Board of Governors took a pretty huge step forward to legitimize the league and create stability in the meetings a couple weeks ago.

There is talent on the ice. If you’re lucky enough to have USHL or NAHL juniors, or higher level minors, then I can see how you’d look down at the Fed.

The Fed has closed the gap over the years with the SP and next year the salary cap will be the same (with the Fed not really enforcing it whereas the SP does).

There is about to be a legitimate battle at A level hockey.

I don't think any FPHL players have ever sniffed an NFL roster though, right?

That would be one hell of a development to go from the Fed to the NFL.

To the best of my knowledge, we haven't had a player start in the Fed and wind up on a NHL roster. We have had some NHL guys come down to the Fed to finish off their careers. The Sharks HC was a former FHL player with Cape Cod.

I think the most recent top prospect to play at this level was Ben Johnson, who was suited up for the Zydeco for one game. That's a whole different story and rabbit hole that I'll avoid.

Lots of FPHL guys have gotten ECHL callups.

Hell, a few FPHL guys (goalies in particular) have gotten invites to AHL training camps, just haven’t made the cut.

It’s not like the Fed is void of talent, that’s for sure.

Honestly, I’m not gonna get out of bed for anything less than the ECHL

With the NHL affiliations these days, not happening in BR sans the LSU arena being built and them wanting to have the ice plant for the rink (plus boards and glass, obviously).

Only chance is perfect timing with a Houston NHL expansion.

Also wish they could do something about taking 2 months off from home games at the River Center from Dec-Feb

Wasn’t that bad this past season. Was 5 weekends off.
Re: Pee Dee, I wouldn't put much stock into that. There's some drama there ongoing that's been alluded to by a few posters on their fan pages. If what's been posted there is true, then they're not going to be accepted into the SP and the Fed made it clear they're not going to accept them back in.

Re: Kingfish name, someone posted on the BR fan group page that there is a pending trademark for the team out there. With the protections even a pending trademark has, they probably have to go through that person to get it.

Re: California. I'd recommend listening to some (if not all for more insight) of Scott Brand's recent interview. I thought it was a crazy move until hearing what the bigger plan is for next year. They knew they'd have to lick some wounds this year, but there's a chance of a West, a Central and an East (and potentially a South maybe?) division type of situation. He made it clear, even the MN team was not going to be some sort of one off with no one around them.

I also think taking some power away from Kirnan with this new committee (and eventually person) is an attempt to stabilize things in the Fed a bit and maybe be taken seriously for once.
Whatever company creates the gum he was chomping on calmly should sponsor him for the remainder of his career.

Right place at the right time, no doubt.

Maybe if he didn’t have the personality of a sheet of drywall he would’ve had more success here

Probably not. His time at UF was when LSU and the staff mattered more than the dollar signs.
Obviously not 100% upfront with what was happening under the table, but there was a premium to get premium away from LSU with Saban/early Miles recruiting.

As much as Bednar is great, I think his message has just gone quiet there

I agree. Something has gone stagnant, and it’s behind the bench. The front office has been remarkable keeping this window open, we’ve had a chance damned near a decade now (I’d call it ‘19-26 at this rate).

Bednar won’t be unemployed long, but I just think we need to move on. I want Carle.

Do you do stand-up too? Holy frick

Sure as shite wish I did. Still think Bednar is back?

Hell of a series by Vegas, obviously.

You can see SOGs or high end chances and all of the analytics, which mostly favor Colorado. It’s abundantly clear that analytics don’t mean shite because Vegas deserved to win each of the four games.

Bednar needs to go.

Bednar done in Colorado, no fricking doubt

Nowhere close. Made it to the third round.

I think I’m hearing Bednar’s swan song playing.

Which sucks, I love the guy and think he’s a hell of a coach.
This is just inexcusable.

They missed too many men by a mile. The Avs bench was fricking losing it.

Since you’re there, Sutherland apparently told the Avs bench that the puck wasn’t near… which is part of the rule, but not the rule when THAT bad. I counted 7 going back, but you’ve got better sight of that.

Heres why I think Bednar is done after this one: what changes did we actually make besides shifting lines?

Vegas isn’t overly concerned about pressuring us on the puck in their PK… so we still set up the bumper? Why not set up a screen that forces more open shooting lanes by shifting them out of their square defense and into a diamond?

Bednar needs to go.
