Until the 3rd, my guy. Can’t count this team out.

Gutting out the point regardless of result

In all honesty, it’s been dead since last year’s move to pinned threads at the bottom of the page. I think it was Metallica asking for it to go back to the top especially with Four Nations getting the hype it got.

Unfortunately, hockey is an afterthought to most posters here (which makes sense), but would definitely get more traffic and more viewership if this wound up top of page 1 on the MSB.

Peaking too early. 1st round elimination on the way

Absolutely impossible to know, particularly when health matters once spring rolls around. It'll also come down, quite a bit actually, to how things look after the Olympic break and whether the Avalanche are still in a battle with Dallas for the division (as I expect), or if they've got enough room to rest some guys here-and-there (looking at Landy, for example, who I'm still amazed hasn't had a night off yet).

Not only that, but it is really hard to imagine this is the "peak" for the Avalanche with the PP being as bad as it is (it can't stay this bad forever, can it?) and LOC still not having played a game yet this year.

Having the best 1/2 punch in net, by far, in the league sure doesn't hurt, and that stretches back to last season when the trades were made.

Lots of hockey left to play, but there's still a chance the Avalanche have better hockey in front of them with this team than behind them (not talking record, but overall play - they've won more "ugly" games than I can remember since he Cup run - largely due to Blacky/Wedgie)... and that's scary.

Wedgewood for Team Canada has to be a thing

It’s a great time to be an Avs fan
I think that was confirmed on that last shot.

Thank you for memories, 7!

I think that’s the hard part. Of course, if an opportunity comes we’ll upgrade, but this team is pretty well set at this point.

It’ll be interesting in a couple of weeks when LOC is back. I get really excited at the idea of a Brindley/Kelly/LOC 4th line in spots given how we move Drury around for face off purposes.

This really is getting ridiculous. A real chance for the Avs, with health luck, to have 80+ points before the Olympic break. Basically just need to break a little over .500 to make that happen.

I understand the stat, but at same time I wonder why they needed the game winning drive in first place

Because a team starting a rookie QB, outside of injury, is a damning sign of a not-so-good roster overall.

Man the Central is an arms race now

I think the Avs are in a good spot to wait (talking long term roster, not just points right now). No one is deeper. No one has the tandem of goaltenders.

Think if we make a trade it’s Sammy + LOC or Kivi (probably Kivi) to get a better two-way blue liner with Malinski…. And that’s about it for the Avs.

No doubt something Bednar needs to get past to get the monkey off his back.

This Avs team and its depth (plus having Landy back for the long haul, it seems) is much different than we’ve had since the Cup run though.

Hopefully they can find a taker for Girard. He’s such a liability. Both goals last night were because of him.

I don’t hate him in the bottom blue line pairing, but obviously that comes as a cap liability for his 5M AAV. Not sure who will take him at this point unless we’re packaging a team-friendly cap hit like Kivi with him to balance things out.

I have been ready to move on from Sammy for a while, which sucks because when he’s on and healthy he’s very fricking good.

No one is as quick as the Avalanche. It's showing night-after-night, and we are still missing LOC.

EDIT: What is the record of the team since the Wedgewood/Blackwood trades? Something like 59-18-9? Sakic and MacFarland are the best in the biz.

Don’t think that was dirty by Forsberg, but it looked bad. Hopefully Wedgie is okay.
