There's a kayak race down Mississippi every year from Port Gibson to Natchez (47 miles-ish). I did it back in 2008ish. It was a lot of work but kind of cool to do. Wasn't sketchy at all but you had to learn how to trek the bends of the river or you were paddling for minimal progress. Not paddling you go about 5mph with paddling we averaged 15mph, on fishing kayaks.

Sounds adventurous and exciting. Better have good equipment with a top notch life jacket! Those currents are beast.

Grimes who had baby XaX12 with Elon Musk tried doing this.

I don't think it's crazy. I hope I'm still physically able to do something like that or hike the Appalachian Trail when I retire.
I'd rather float down the river in a houseboat or something though than paddle it in a canoe. Something like this.

Man, you can put in at Highland Road Park kayak launch and be at the Amite River in less than a day. There's actually another kayak launch at a park on Bayou Manchac near Old Jefferson. It was really pretty and shady on Bayou Fountain & Manchac before they started all this desnagging and clearing work for flood protection. You float right past all the pretty homes in the back of the Country Club. Me and my 5yo son at the time did it one day, and he had to get out and take a shite by a tree in the back yard of one of those mansions. Sorry if that was on camera

I know a guy doing it in sections. Not the whole length all at once. Last time I spoke to him he hadn’t tackled the lower part of the river. I raised the potential dangers. He didn’t seem too concerned.

Rather drive around and hit a bunch of prettier rivers.

I went with my stepbrother on one of his fishing runs and we saw a dude loaded down with a bunch of gear and he was making a tent on a sandbar. We stopped and talked briefly and he said he does this every year. He takes off 30 days and then literally just floats the fricking Mississippi

I’d love to do this when I retire. Wouldn’t be able to take that long off. Maybe with my sons, if wife (no pics)was there, it would be a train wreck

About 10 years ago I watched a Baw try to swim across the river from the foot of canal to Algiers. He got about 50 yards.

They don't get any free time. They're ALWAYS at school grading papers and making lesson plans.....haven't you heard!?!?!?
