Questions:
Did they sleep in tents on the bank?
Catch fish for dinner?
During the summer?
Where they get the money to take off for 3 months?

They are a good watch. They aren't the only ones to do it. I've watched his videos where he hikes from Key West to Nova Scotia.

Yes
No, they buy food easily made on campstoves
Yes, they were in the 100 degree heat a few days ago.
They live in a van. She's a teacher and he's, well, a hiker who posts all his trips on youtube.

That wouldn’t be for me. However, America’s Great River Loop I’m planning on doing.
There is a way to boat around the through the eastern 1/3 of the US. Great Lakes in the summer, down to the Gulf in the fall (arriving at the gulf just after hurricane season), Florida in the winter, east coast in the spring and then back into the Great Lakes.
It takes about a year no single day is huge and it can be done comfortably in a 35-50 cruiser. So ping as the vessel is under 19’2” above the water and draws less than 4 feet or so.
I’m planning on it with a friend and his wife. Two boats so we each have our individual privacy but can hang out on evenings we choose.

Some guy swam the entire Mississippi 6-7 years ago
Well yeah but remember it got easier for him as he went on and the extra limbs and webbed feet/fingers started to develop.

I did the great loop back in 2016. Good trip. We were in a 50 foot Cantius. We went clockwise which is not usual. in the Mississippi and the Illinois river, we were getting 0.8 mpg. 800-1000 bucks a day in diesel.

A couple of years ago, I was down at Venice and there was a college aged girl who said she did it on a paddle board. They were eating a celebratory meal with her family. Don't know if it was true, but if it wasn't they faked it pretty good

props to them for paddling down the gator filled Atchafalaya, i would be too pussy
Grew up near butte la rose did my fair share of swiming/fishing as a kid and teen in those canals/bayous off the atchafalaya. Saw gators all the time they never bothered us. As the lady stated had a few times in the boat where a head would pop out a few feet from the boat but that was about it. I think they were just curious. I guess gators have plenty to eat down there so they just leave the humans alone. Enjoyed the youtube channel. Thanks for the link.

This would be awesome to do if I had a boat I could sleep in and cook on.

And a promise from all the mosquitos and ticks to not bother you.
I watched the first couple of videos and that looked hella miserable.

Hence the counter-clockwise norm.
That’s a shite ton of fuel for far too many days.
How did you like it overall?

Read the Rivergator safe camping spots.
From my research you don’t want to stop n Cairo,Illinois. I’ve been there when it was booming.
You don’t want to go there now.

Which is probably why most people go counterclockwise or downstream
