"Bastogne" ~ Band of Brothers

My grandfather was in injured in the Battle of Bastogne. His foxhole was hit and he was the only one to survive. He received two Purple Hearts. He had shrapnel all over his body from that battle. It would have been cool to be able to watch that with him. He enjoyed telling us old war stories.

Dead Freight (the one with the train heist)
Probably second worst episode, behind Fly for me. From the start of the show, we saw many pretty absurd situations and scenes, but that was the shows 1st real jump the shark moment.

ETA:
That heist, without the little kid being killed, is something for a villain in a James Bond of Mission Impossible movie. Anyone with the intelligence to carry out that heist would know not to bring dumbarse Todd along.

The first episode of 24 when you realized how great and different it was going to be.

Horror: X-Files "Home"
This might be it for me. That song playing as they drive in the car and then… so haunting.

A number of great episodes in Hannibal and Whitechapel.

There were also some episodes of the Cumberbatch Sherlock Holmes that are some of the best television I’ve ever seen.

Lots of good picks that I won’t repeat but how come no one has mentioned South Park season 5 episode 4?

Love these:

Dinner Party - The Office
Friends - The One Where Everyone Finds Out (yes, I know y’all all hate Friends. Women love Friends like men love Seinfeld)

The Door - GOT just gutted me.
Love’s Labor Lost - ER. Almost 30 years later and I still remember the feeling that show left me with.

And Grace Under Pressure - Hill Street Blues. Futility tells Grace that Esterhaus died. Loved Hill Street Blues.

Final episode of "The Americans"

Everything was great, music, how every storyline was wrapped up nicely.

This has ended up to being a really good thread.

So many great episodes and shows mentioned - all coming from a very subjective point of view. I've watched most of the shows mentioned, outside a few, but seeing the same shows mentioned multiple times is a testament to their impact.

I think poster meeple mentioned "33" - that's BSG (2004) - greatness.

I'll refrain from my normal Lost is still an amazing show to this day. That cuts hard for some people.

Sci-Fi: Star Trek "City on the Edge of Forever"

After I posted, I thought, "Why didn't I post COTEOF?"

I didn't have a good answer. Just as Pine Barrens is gateway Sopranos, City is gateway Star Trek, as you don't really have to know the show (although it helps, particularly the McCoy sequences) to appreciate how good this episode is.

I never broke down and watched the Stardoe show and even I am aware of this episode. I have to give credit - it must be some kind of iconic for that to be true.
