I went to the Brewster/Harwich game last week with a buddy that lives in Harwich. I told him that one of the players on Brewster is from LSU. He asked which one, and I said the man standing amongst the boys. He laughed. He’s noticeably bigger

Personally, I think it was just a plate approach issue. Jay's approach is not easy for a young hitter

Yeah, I think the slogan his 1st year was something like “it’s a ball or it’s a line drive.” And “ball” didn’t necessarily mean a “ball” ball, it was more “not a pitch I can drive.” His philosophy forces you to have to be comfortable hitting with 2 strikes. Obviously that’s tough on a lot of young power hitters.

And it may never be good for some guys. I think Jones will get better hitting with 2 strikes, but he’ll probably be allowed more freedom to just stand on top of the plate and
fastball hunt early, even if the pitch is on the outer 3rd. Jones is strong enough that if he lets the ball travel and barrels up outside fastballs, he can still drive them out of the stadium to center and right-center.

It’s gotta be weird going from playing in The Box to playing in front of what looks like a neighborhood crowd

He will hit 31 homeruns next year.

Very little chance of that. Jones would have to get much better at seeing offspeed, otherwise teams will just feed him that.

Two LSU players. Pearson is on the team as well.

I’m not sure why everyone is so hard on a freshman struggling with SEC breaking balls and offspeed. The guy had seen literally nothing like that outside of maybe 10 pitches in one high school playoff game - his prior 10,000 pitches were basically bp compared.

If someone struggles late into 2nd or into 3rd yr yea fine.

Exactly. On an average scale, everyone of the players in the Cape Cod League gets drafted within the first 5 rounds of the MLB Draft.

They also have really cush summer "jobs" while hanging out in the Cape. The local tails CANNOT wait for "The Boys of Summer!"

whoa, man, I wasn't being hard on him when I wrote that he probably would not hit 31 HRs. 31!!!

You know this isn’t true right? There were like 400 players in the cape this year.

Man, our players must hate it when they have to leave the Box and play on the little league looking fields and facilities.

Yea dude. Would fricking suck to spend the summer on Cape Cod where it's mostly sunny and mid to high 70s in the summer.

have to do with the comparison of the facilities?

I didn't say there weren't good things about CCB I was only mentioning the facilities.
