Absolutely. I can assure you that with me in the cockpit, the plane would soon see land again.

How many people claiming they could land a plane can drive a stick shift? Statistics say it’s not many

Anybody can land a commercial airplane but not everyone can land it in one piece.

With someone talking me through it yes. I would also need my wife to locate the button/switch they were telling me to press because I still can't find the ketchup in the fridge 7 years later.

Yes.

Kind of like when Fat Rat Russell tried to jump 23 cars at State Capitol Dragway back-in-the-day; he made it, but his motorcycle didn't.

Zero chance that I could hit a runway safely. If I was coming down in the middle of Iowa cornfields or some other very wide, flat place, I guess maybe with step-by-step help from ground control there could be a chance of a small group of survivors of the inevitable wreck.

Probably not. I suppose if someone were talking you through the steps on the coms it could be done but I sure as hell wouldn't want to try it.

If I've got a pilot in my ear telling me what to do? Sure...

I think I could land it.... that being said...

I probably would overshoot the ideal part of the runway to begin landing and thusly I'd park it in a field.

The ground coming up, the crosswinds, me not being assertive enough to push it past the glidepath onto the runway would all be the ingredients of me going long.

I think I could get 50% of the people to walk away unharmed.

OR
I land it like a Naval Aviator and hit the ground hard as if it owed me money. Still wind up in the grass somehow.

Sure, I've done it hundreds of times on FS!
Btw, roll all ERV's!

As opposed to just flying on autopilot until the engines flame out when the fuel runs dry?

Drag that limp arse captain out of that seat and put me in contact with the nearest airport. We settin down.

In a modern airliner, you can get damn close to the runway by just inputting commands into the computer. Then have the fight attendant run through the landing checklist while someone on the radio talks you down.

Would I try if there was no one else on board more qualified? Yes.
Could I “land” if someone talked me through it? Possibly

From my flight simulator days I would do awesome.

Could I stop once we land? That would be my biggest fear.
At this point I would panic looking for the period key to hit the breaks.

Absolutely could do it. Providing the commercial aircraft was a single-engine Cessna 152 and not one of those multi-engine jet powered behemoths! (They do have single engine, fixed-pitch propeller commercial aircraft, right? Right???)
