shorter flight
looks like NOLA has a daily evening direct flight to SLC which is ideal

Memphis is some combo of Arkansas and Mississippi. Not sure why you bring it up.
Not compared to ATL/NOLA unless I missed something. Plus there are other cities in TN.

OP, this x 1,000
I don't know what you have heard but BR is not some enlightened utopia. I'd say all of the things wrong with ATL are the same in BR.
If you like the southern climate and need a big airport there are about a dozen places better than BR in the south.
This is coming from a resident of BR since 1978.

If you’re 100% coming to Louisiana, the Northshore (Covington/Mandeville/Madisonville) is where you want to be. If you are okay with paying for private schools, Lakeview is the neighborhood in NOLA to move to.
If I were in your shoes, I would move to the Charlotte, NC area. American Airlines hub with direct flights pretty much everywhere domestically. Ballantyne area in Charlotte, or areas like Marvin, Weddington, Waxhaw, in NC. If SC is ok with you, look at places in Ft. Mill and Indian Land, SC.

Northshore is the answer, and what someone from Buckhead would be most comfortable with
That would be like moving to Bremen, GA. Buckhead would be like Mid-City.

If you spend so much time there, why not just move to Logan or Springville Utah?

Because it’s a large city in Tennessee…..like my comment was mentioning.

Large cities….like my question was about?

You should have messaged the board when you were considering moving. You’re already fricked. Go buy a gun and keep your head down.

lived in Utah for 5 years. Love the skiing, love the desert, still do a ton of business there, but its either super liberal or mormon with no middle ground.
We are catholic so the deep catholic heritage in Louisiana is appealing as well

We're not talking about distance. And I'm not comparing Northshore to Buckhead.
But as an affluent white guy from Buckhead, he would be more comfortable in Northshore than in Lafayette

Old Metairie or Metairie north of west esplanade between lake avenue and Cleveland place
There are good private schools but they can be expensive (Jesuit, Mt. Carmel, St. Martin's, Newman, Dominican)

This can't be real. Any time I visit Atlanta I can't help but wish Nola was more like it. Much cleaner for one.

Why not live somewhere like Ocean Springs MS? Still fricking cheap, you get to live by the gulf, and still close enough to Nola to grab a flight to the liberal mountains.
ETA: Personally if I could start from scratch, I would have chosen Jacksonville Beach. Please note, frick Jacksonville. But their beach is essentially an island. Tourist don’t come there because it doesn’t have white sand and isn’t popular, so it’s nothing but locals. Few chain restaurants, everyone is biking around. Decent schools. I just found a niche position that requires me to only be at spots where theme parks are.

Those areas are good. Old Metairie will blow the OPs mind if he's looking for something affordable.
The Catholic schools you listed are actually not all that expensive.

If the airport and schools are the top priority, I'm not sure you're going to get a better situation than Cobb county. Maybe move a little north, Mt.Paran is a great school, if private is what you want.
Nvm: I see you said only Catholic school

The only real International airport in LA is in NO if you want nonstop flights. BR and Lafayette flights mostly connect to Houston or Dallas.
After the OP has been using Hartsfield, he’ll feel like MSY is Bastrop Morehouse Memorial Airport (KBQP).

You really think BR is better than Buckhead for the ghetto reason? Move two exits up 400.
Posted on 7/15/23 at 9:34 pm to SoFlaGuy
born and raised ITP- would rather move out than to Cobb etc (except for OTP Sandy Springs).
Atlanta is great but it lacks the boating/ fishing /hunting if louisiana.
Atlanta has great foliage, pro sports, good , not great restaurants, and mediocre golf

Obviously Louisiana is super attractive given the low cost of living and abundant outdoor activities yall have at your disposal.
Hate to break this to you, but there's a reason people that aren't associated with tourism or the oil industry are leaving. Hell my bosses are already starting to put hiring freezes in place for the state because there's not enough freight being generated to justify hiring the drivers.
