He may very well be great at developing talent. But, recruiting in the SEC and junior college is very different, more so now than ever before.
Just say you don't know much about him. Instead, you googled his name, looked at his wikipedia page, and came on here spouting shite off about him not being qualified because he coached at San Jacinto.

I seem to remember Rice hiring a head coach from San Jacinto who turned their nothing program into national champions. Somehow a guy is qualified enough to coach at Texas but not LSU. Like you, I’m not saying he’s the guy for the job, but if Johnson hires him, I certainly wouldn’t look at his resume and conclude he was unqualified.

Sounds like he locks horns with everyone.
Sounds like he had a regular bullfight with Texas fans. LOL

I never considered Woody an option because I never considered he’d be available. He’s really good at developing guys.

Top tier guys who decide on college instead of taking the draft out of high school want to go to places like LSU, Texas, Stanford etc. It's a bit harder to convince them to go to JUCO; if their grades are an issue you just hit the minor leagues.

It’s also very important for Jay to like the guy and want to spend many many hours with the person. So when he feels a connection in that regard, plus a good resume, he’ll pull the trigger.

His son is a complete douche bag.

The #1 criteria for a pitching coach.

Yeah, it’s probably a lot easier to recruit in the SEC. Not sure how much recruiting Wes did anyway. Jay seems to be much more hands-on than most HCs. The pitching coach’s pedigree and reputation are likely much more valuable in recruiting than their actual boots on the ground work.
Let Jay and the other assistants hit the road while the PC stays in Baton Rouge and breaks down film and develops a plan for developing them. And let him communicate that plan to help close the deal.
That said, I don’t know enough about this guy to have any real opinion on him. I just know better than to discount him already based on that resume.

This is accurate

I get the feeling Jay and Jordan handle the majority of the recruiting anyways. The Pitching Coach needs to be able to identify and develop talent. Let the recruiting coordinator and the machine jay Johnson is in recruiting handle the actual recruiting part.

To say the least...

How long y’all gonna keep questioning Jay Johnson’s decisions? Lol

Agree if this is the guy Jay wants, I support it. Maybe he will open up a San Jac pipeline.

Texan fans aren’t too impressed with him.
I take zero stock in fan impressions. Half of our fan base wanted Wes gone and were glad when he announced he was leaving.

Agreed, I was talking about their feelings towards their HC not pitching coach lol

So this is a maybe, might be, possibly, could be, not confirmed, hire?
And the Rant gets all triggered over it?
