Just saw where Texas and their pitching coach parted ways after one season. The thing is they finished 10th in the country in ERA. Is this just a presumptive move by Texas before LSU announces him.

Edit: and Mikie Mahtook's account just tweeted the eyes emoji at the announcement.

Do schools ever do this?

Being a lifelong Cardinals fan, I remember him from his time in the rotation in St. Louis.

He’s an experienced big league pitcher who seems to have had some success as a coach. I think he’d be a nice hire but don’t know enough about him as a coach.

Yeah, strange him and Texas are parting ways unless Jay has already hired him and this is preemptive.

Interesting that he’s one of the few pitchers with wins over all 30 MLB teams.

Dude was at San Jac before UT. Surely it's not him.

Originally, it was due to being suspended for simply replying to a tweet: "Fauci should be hanged for treason and sedition against the United States of America" back in late 2020.

Several months ago when Elon purchased it, I appealed the perma ban. The appeal was not received well as I opened it:

"To whom it may concern that will soon have their collective liberal shite shoved out the front door at the onceTwitter cesspool,:.

Now I can't even see a fricking tweet.

Going from a coach with multiple SEC and MLB stops on his resume to a mostly high school/JUCO coach with one year at D1 seems like a step down to me.

They have experience recruiting and developing some of the best players in the country who are looking to get better quickly. Seems like a good background for the transfer portal world we live in.

I don’t know that it’s him, but he obviously knows what he’s doing. Discounting him based on San Jac is short-sighted.

Agree it just may be a coincidence. This isn’t the first time David Pierce has let someone go after one year.

I'm not saying he would be a great hire, but hes a 15 year MLB veteran with 7 years at an elite JUCO where he developed numerous guys including Jackson Rutledge. Then all he did is go to one of the most prestigious baseball schools in america and lead the team to a 10th ranked ERA

Sounds like he locks horns with everyone. Texan fans aren’t too impressed with him. I did a stroll through their CWS thread and majority wanted JJ before they made that hire lol

I never considered Woody an option because I never considered he’d be available. He’s really good at developing guys.

He may very well be great at developing talent. But, recruiting in the SEC and junior college is very different, more so now than ever before.

And I'm sure Pierce could afford to keep him if he wanted.

I just don't think a hire of this sort would be in line with what Johnson/Woodward are trying to accomplish at LSU.

This is all just instant reaction and if he is the hire, I will be more than glad to eat my words
