Ordered a regular Yukon and we're now questioning if we probably need to look for an XL instead. We will need the third row up all of the time.

I've looked at them and in the moment decided the regular would work for everything but trips, but I've since heard from a couple of guys (who have 3+ kids) that they wish they'd opted for the XL. Anyone have input for me here? Only one kid in the third row so I think I could fold part of that bench and get some room there. Primarily thinking about strollers, etc.

Obviously Tahoe/Suburban thoughts useful here too.

Upgrade to the XL and if you don't need the space it's fine but if you don't upgrade and you DO need the space...you're F'd

Did you go from no kids to 3+ kids in like 3 years?

Had a regular tahoe with 3rd row years ago and you couldn't fit shite behind that back seat. maybe a couple carry on suitcases stood up. Not sure how much the newer bodies changed that as mine was an 08.

Do you really need to take ALL of the kids with you everywhere you go?

My mom had the XL and on multiple occasions we fit a couch in that car. It has a LOT of space.

If you get the XL purchase the appropriate engine size and drivetrain.

I love when i see women trying to drive the XLs and only have 2 kids.

They can barely drive those things but some reason thought they needed a suburban for just 2 kids

The third row in the regular is ok until a kid is taller than about 3 feet then the leg room back there becomes an issue.

I’d never own a short Yukon or Tahoe.

I have owned four suburbans, and I can’t think of a practical reason to own a Tahoe or Yukon. They drive basically the same, but the Tahoe has zero cargo room. Even with the third row up in the Suburban, you can fit all of your luggage for a family of five. Also, I hunt a lot, and I prefer the suburban over a truck. I can put all of my stuff in the back and not worry about rain or it getting stolen.

We have an XL and had a Suburban before that. The gas mileage isn't substantively different and the extra length makes for a smoother ride. Go with the XL.

Get the XL or you'll be hauling around one of those luggage racks in the rear hitch.

Have 3 kids, had the 21 Tahoe. Not enough space for trips or even getting kids and their crap to sports and such. Upgraded to the 22 suburban, definitely recommend more space.

With the Tahoe, every damn trip we had to put the trailer hitch cargo carrier on. Haven't used it since we got the suburban.

We have an XL and it's been the best decision. Go with the captain seats in the middle so the kids can easily access the 3 row. Also having 2 kid in capt seat and one by themselves in the 3rd row well alleviate almost all fighting in the car.

We have a 17 XL. My sisters all have the regular. They constantly need more room with 2-3 children. We love our XL and we never have issues. All the husbands wanted the XL but the wives wanted the regular bc of looks.

The back storage in a 17+ non XLs are laughable and worse than much smaller vehicles. Also, the legroom in the third row on the regular is atrocious.
