Right now people who owe student loans aren’t paying and just blowing the money or change their budget to spend what 500-1000 extra dollars. And then in august they have to start paying it back thus spending less and could impact a lot of stocks. Yes they need to pay it back and the smart ones that took out student loans have Been paying back their loans the whole time. But budgets about to get busted throughout America

This is your chance to get rich by shorting consumer goods stocks.

This is great news for everyone.

I cannot believe that student loans have been paused for this long, and I really cannot believe that Washington DC continues to say it's been paused to help people get back on their feet from a brief moment of panic more than 3 years ago.

Imagine if people were forced to also pay Covid loans.

Not really that "smart" as it wasn't the optimal strategy.

Are you talking about PPP loans? Why should we imagine that? The government shut their businesses down. Not a great comparison to student loans.

This will greatly help with inflation as it will take money out of the market. Interest rates ought to stabilize soon afterwards

I don't there will be a significant enough chunk of people not paying to make a difference. Most people will resume their payments.

I do think this isn't being talked about enough. A lot of people will have less disposable income when these start back.

Had to make people feel the burn of paying back their loans so politicians can run on empty promises of forgiving student loans during the next election cycle

I drive a ‘16 Sierra that’s paid off and has 110k miles. I got it used in ‘18. All signs currently point to me being able to get nearly what I paid for it today. I hate trying to time the market….but damn if it’s not tempting to sell it, drive a POS for a few months, and get a nicer one on sale.

Something has to give it seems.
