So I take it the original LIV players still get the massive amounts of cash, but the players who didn't just wont see anything close to that.

I was mostly indifferent to this but if this is true i do get some amusement from how much bellyaching and bitching like a woman Rory Mcilroy did only to be merged with them now.

A slight dose of karma for him I'd say and well deserved

Phil did keep saying he knew stuff that was about to come out. Guess this was it.

Once again proving that money wins every single time over principle.

Does this mean they get to keep shorts on the merging tour?

Imagine turning down money from LIV because of your "integrity", and then seeing this announcement

I think it’s most likely LIV realizing it couldn’t be sustainable and taking a deal.

If it wasn’t sustainable, why would the PGA agree to merge? Especially after drawing such a moralistic line in the sand?

The more likely scenario is the top dogs on the PGA Tour looked at Brooks, DJ and the gang wearing shorts, playing a restricted schedule, still doing well in majors and pocketing huge amounts of money and told Jay they’re walking if something isn’t done. Look how much the PGA cloned aspects of LIV already - as well as magically coughing up tens of millions of dollars they just found in the couch cushions. (Whoopsie!)

From last year:

LINK

quote:

Former United States President Donald Trump called on the world’s best golfers to break away from the PGA Tour to join the LIV Golf Invitation series this week. Trump is predicting an eventual merger between the rival golf leagues and telling loyal PGA Tour players to “take the money now”

quote:

If you don’t take the money now, you will get nothing after the merger takes place, and only say how smart the original signees were.

Not sure I like the idea of Saudis having a stake in the PGA now

So is this LIV scooping up the entire tour with Saudi money or is this LIV crawling back after sort of flopping?

This is the PGA Tour begging to have Brooks on the Ryder Cup team as their only hope to beating Rory/Rahm/Hovland

Doesn’t the PGA have an “alliance” with the European Tour as well? PGA is like one of those oil companies back in the day who used to gobble up all of their competitors.

If I'm Rory, Scheffler, Spieth, JT, or Rahm and backed Jay and the Tour only to get stabbed in the back so Jay can cash out, I'm putting together a mutiny right now.

PGA bent the knee

Phil and Brooks and the guys got a shite ton of money to go on a two year vacation having fun and now are back to where they were.

The DP Tour is getting rolled into the combined entity.

There's going to be serious antitrust questions here before this deal closes. Lawyers and lobbyists are going to be making millions.
