Against 48 man fields on shite courses.

And the lower end golfers in these LIV tournaments have NO business being in a 48 man field.

It’s all pure shite. It’s absolute shite.

ETA: And look, I like the pace and storylines of the entire season of PGA Tour golf. From the first week it starts a picture is slowly painted and at the end of it we’ve got a perfectly wonderful finished product that we can sit back and admire.

I don’t like the LIV golf league. And I doubt I ever will. It would take it having pretty close to THE top 48 golfers in the world. I’d enjoy a couple of those a year. But that’s about it.

48 pros playing golf. On tv. It was fun to watch. I guess you just don’t like watching pros play golf.

Beware of Trump supporters supporting LIV, weird but it's a fact.

LIV is far from done in fact it will be the elevated portion of the PGA Tour. The merger actually opens the door for television coverage and for advertisers who wanted to sponsor but were told not to by the PGA brass. This really opens up the spigots for sponsors/advertisers/media companies to spend even bigger money on professional golf.

LIV players will play in PGA Tour events but in order to qualify for the LIV portion of the PGA Tour players the top players will be subjected to yearly team drafts, trades, and free agency.

LIV will actually cause a massive monetization of the PGA Tour that wasn't there before. LIV will be adding more 4 more teams this year and more of the top players (16 more players) (i.e. Rahm, Hovland, etc.). The PIF isn't going to just shut down an asset on the balance sheet.

Sorry but those are just facts.

Old Takes from Pride

Why would it make any sense for PIF to spend billions on the more popular established PGA tour, to only continue to dump money into liv and try to recruit against the tour you just dumped billions into it?

The prince wants to spend money and watch a great product he can claim as his and celebrate. He tried LIv, and LIv failed. Greg kept tripping over his big ole dick and it just wasn’t something the prince could brag about So he moved on to an actual good golf product. So to think the prince wants to keep it like LIv at all is asinine.

I think it’s pretty clear based on PIF still pursuing players and Tigers letter the PIF and PGA is never merging

Correct

And majors will move away from OWGR which will be the nail in the coffin for the PGA tour

The PGA’s “merger” with LIV is basically a framework for a huge cash infusion. Monahan has tried to get other investors since this summer to pony up money in order to diminish the Saudi PIF influence.

LIV and the Saudis aren’t backing down, and they are letting Monahan know that if they want to merge, then the PGA has to accept PIF money and influence.

The head of the majors were the ones that unanimously voted on the LIV OWGR piece. If they wanted that changed seems they would have handled it there

That was months ago. Life comes at you fast. And they will want Rahm, DBro, Koepka and Cam smith in their events

I would think the Majors obviously want those guys, but I also don’t think they want PIF around. Not for blood money reasons, but because an organization that has billions they are willing to piss away legitimally could threaten the very existence of the majors.

What if PIF decided to host their own majors on the same weekend as the current majors and offer 1 billion to the winner? They could do that with ease. Would that make everyone happy?
