I suspect ESPN doesn't want to pay more for a 9 game SEC schedule. I think this is the SEC trying to pressure ESPN into paying more for it.

This.

And of course it revolves around their Tennessee game that should have been trashed 12 years ago.

It will be 9 and Alabama’s opponents will be the obvious: two true rivals (Auburn and Tennessee) and the school it has played the most and is right down the road (MSU).

Basically, until fans vote with their asses and stop paying for season tickets when the home schedule looks like UGA's this year, the conference will continue to take a giant dump on its base, and ask how it tastes.

I don’t think this is the responsibility of fans though. It should be a 9 game conference schedule, but why should Georgia support the team less because of it being 8 games?

Just get rid of permanent opponents then. Bama wants its cake and to eat it too.

Pathetic for such a “dynasty” or “juggernaut”.

Go to 9 rotating opponents and be done with it.

Each year 6 teams from the previous year rotate, 3 remain the same. This way you play everyone once every 3 years and have a home and home roughly every 4- 5 years max.

Screw the Bama rivalries with Auburn and Tennessee and the Auburn/UGA one.

They voted to expand so suffer the consequences.

I’ll laugh if the SEC goes to 9 games and rivalries like GA-GA Tech, Florida-FSU, Kentucky-Louisville, and Clemson-South Carolina get dropped

Nick Saban voiced frustration with the SEC's three proposed permanent rivals for the Tide (Auburn, LSU and Tennessee) should the league expand to nine games. Should the program follow Saban's battle cry,

Let’s call the little midget hypocrite out for what he is. It isn’t that he is against the 9 game schedule - he’s against having LSU as Alabama’s permanent opponent. With one permanent opponent he’s locked in to Allbarn and perfectly happy with that. When it was Tennessee before he also had no problem.

Shocked this isn’t working out like the “bridge scheduling” farce a decade ago.

Why do you think they released the opponents so early? Trial balloon.

This thing goes to 9 but little Nicky will whine and get the LSU game dropped in favor of Missouri or South Carolina or Vanderbilt. I mean, the world will end if Alabama doesn’t play Tennessee every year.

So he’s not against a 9 game schedule, he just doesn’t want Alabama’s permanent opponents to be the best programs in the league?

Either way. They are speaking out against 9 game schedule.

And lol at auburn and tennessee “best in the league”

I’ve still never been to a football game in College Station, which is absurd.

I get 8. But I like watching more fun games and that’s what happens with 9.

Stay at 8 for now since UF is playing 3 P5 OOC next year. And obviously our permanent opponent would be UGA.

Luckily, thats going away no matter what

I just dont trust these schools to schedule fun and competent OOC games if they get saddled with 9 conference games. They are gonna use it as an excuse

If we’re going to have 16 freaking teams in the conference, we need a 9 game schedule.

Yep.

Not only that, when they do go to 9 the TV talking heads will start demanding 10 SEC games. It won't be long after that before they start saying it should be an all SEC schedule and OOC games should only happen in the playoffs.

This is all a push by the broadcasters to cut out as many schools as possible to lower how much money they pay over time. It's the entire reason ESPN created the Power 6/Power 5 designation.

I just really don’t want the divisions to dissolve, I can’t stand tie breaks that involve more than head to head.
