Technically, that’s what they are there for. It’s the way they go about it that causes the problems.
Rep. A may very well have a great project in his district but he needs Rep. B’s vote so Rep. B gets Rep. A to vote for some BS project he wants in return for a vote…well, you know the rest.

Yes, I want my representative to steer money towards my district. That is why I voted for him. To make my district better.

Exactly

My rep(Bishop) just happens to be better at it than most. Maybe the other districts should elect better representation

Usually politicians like to steer money back to their districts and neighborhoods as a campaign tool to attract voters to ensure their re-election. Legislative leaders in Louisiana are entrenched in Baton Rouge, and don’t need help getting re-elected. In Louisiana, Legislators blatantly steer money back home to line the pockets of their friends, family, and business associates. If you complain, then your district gets nothing. If you play ball, then one day you can be in a leadership role, or even transition to a lobbyist role that gets you a cut of those funds.

Someone needs to figure out these new tactics and do something about it!

House Republican leaders did not include a teacher pay raise in the budget proposal, which would have cost approximately $200 million, because they said the state could not afford it.

This tells me that I’m probably opposed to whoever wrote the article bitching about the spending

Legislators began adding hundreds of them annually to the state’s spending plan two years ago, when Louisiana saw an influx of cash related to the federal COVID-19 pandemic relief efforts and hurricane recovery.

And the administration still tries to gaslight us into believing this had nothing to do with the historic inflation we’ve experienced.

Certainly not beyond the realm of possibility for the media to frick it up, but that seems pretty specific.

Isn’t the whole point of being an elected official (especially state legislature) to steal as much money as you can for your buddies? Not sure why this is noteworthy.

Guess you didn’t look past the clickbait or didn’t look for a non biased article that included the fact that most of what they considered “pet projects” are infrastructure recovery items from ida like new roofs for hospitals
every town in the state has infrastructure needs. You just got to sell your soul to get them built

Depends on on the brother in law, and now with minority owned businesses taking priority, a sister in law may get thrown a bone or 2.

If you can find a black lesbian veteran owned business, that is four minority boxes checked off, you can probably charge double and still get the contract over an in law deal.
