Dumb question. Can you spotlight them or will they get spooked by the light?

a red light works

digital NV with an IR light is better

thermal will make you sell a kidney as the hogs have no prayer

Use a green light and slowly work the light down to where you intend to shine. If you straight up put a green spot on them they sometimes spook.

Thermal hunting is some fun shite. I’ve got all kinds of light setups but don’t really bring them out anymore unless I have a buddy using it as a backup.

Our hogs are really wary in the day, like you never see them, but at night, I use my red hat light, walk right up to them and shoot them with my thermal at my feeders… red lights seem to work the best, and you don’t have to be quiet, I learned. If it’s a group and they are feeding, it’s easy pickings. Just walk right up to them at easy shooting range, they just don’t expect anything to bother them…bam, bam….sausage!

Thermal. If you’re single it’s worth putting off a ring for awhile.

Oh yeah he was on a pig and calf diet. He is my second that hit 45. My hunting buddy got one that weighted 50. I had one the same size but didn't have a scale. All were near pastures or chicken coops
