"Constitutional carry” passes in the committee and will now move on to the House.

I don't know why they are trying this again with JBE still in office. He will veto it once it it hits his desk and Louisiana will remain the ONLY southern state without Constitutional Carry.

To show the Republicans for JBE once again how stupid they were to vote for this asswipe.

What is current Louisiana law? My recollection is open carry without a permit, but concealed carry only with one. Is that correct?

I hope it stays that way. Unpermitted concealed firearms just legalizes the gang bangers who carry unpermitted concealed weapons everywhere. I'd rather the police be able to confiscate guns from the drug dealers on the corner.

Democrats will yell and cry that asking for a free government Id card is asking to much for minorities and stopping them from voting (a right), but for some strange reason see no issue with having to require the same minorities to spend hundreds of dollars on classes and permits to exercise another right. Republicans should be bringing up democrats being very racist to shove it in their face that they want more young black people to get additionally charged for illegally concealing a firearm when they make it prohibitively expensive and timely to do so.

Because not every democrat is an anti-Gun/pro-Criminal idiot, especially in the south.

Could be that they are showing that everytime Louisiana elects a liberal governor they are playing "woke" russian roulette in hopes of convincing some democrat voters that the next guy their party pushes might be much worse than Mr. Honor code.

frick'em. When I come in from Texas and visit family in LA I still conceal carry. Don't care, if I need I need it.

The thugs are already exercising this right.

Why not let the good people do it too?

As a longtime firearms instructor and range officer, I support the 2nd Amendment.
But after seeing the completely stupid and unsafe things that untrained and/or inattentive people do at even well organized ranges, I am reluctant to open the flood gates for people who have zero training to carry concealed firearms.
Basic concepts such as muzzle discipline, trigger discipline, charging and clearing a chamber, press checking a chamber, and sight alignment are not innate skills to all humans. These necessary skills are taught and maintained. I have literally seen people show up with .9mm pistol in a box and bag and load .40 S&W ammunition into the magazine before wondering why the chamber would not close into battery!
People are inherently lazy and will take the path of least resistance.
Having them attend a simple safety class and display a reasonable level of skill is not an infringement - it is part of that whole "well regulated" concept in my view. It is a completely reasonable expectation for their safety and for the safety of everyone around them.
In fact, I think that some firearms safety training should be required for all citizens as part of their early education. If we view ourselves as part of the militia, why are we not given some basic training to make that viable?
Think this through for a moment. Do we want to permit all of the lowest IQ and poorest maturity people to have the ability to carry concealed with no standards, training or qualification?
Take a moment to ponder those special few...
Seems scary to me.
I took numerous classes and fired countless rounds before even considering carrying a firearm. I cannot imagine any responsible person not wanting to be skilled before doing so.

I wish congress would pass national reciprocity. I have a CCL and travel to several states besides Alabama visiting grandkids to states that honor Alabama's CCL. All of these states have constitutional carry including Alabama but I have to purchase a CCL to be legal in those states. I am flying to Reagan National for a wedding next week and will be staying in DC and can not carry there. If I do and get caught I would instantly be a felon.

How restrictive is the proposed Constitutional Carry law going to be? LA allows licensed concealed carry but it's one of the more restrictive in the country AFAIK. I was really surprised by the limits when I got mine. Can't carry at any event that required a public permit to hold, so that means every event that a crowd might be expected: no parades, no festivals, no fairs, concerts, sporting events, etc. Can't carry into any establishment that serves alcohol - not just bars but any restaurant that serves alcohol (i.e. every restaurant in the state). Can't carry in any building where an elected official *might* have an office, so that's every public building, library, etc. What else is left, the grocery store and the gas pump? Really the only benefit I've taken advantage of is the no wait when filling out 4473's. Of course the lifetime CC license disqualifies you from even that perk since an expiration date is required to bypass the check.

Supposedly we have the super majority again and all indications as of now they can override his veto. I hope the ones that tanked it last year will not cave to the Libtard’s again when it comes time to override his veto
