I disagree.

I thought Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire, while solid films, were terrible adaptations. They both left so much shite on the cutting room floor.

I forgot about Goblet. I'll agree with you there.

Prisoner may not have been a perfect adaptation, but it was so damn good that I'll never complain about it.

Rowling is serving as an Executive Producer for the show.

So zero.

Have they said what the angle will be?

Its the books.

Most fans of the books aren't super happy with a lot of the stuff that got left out of the movies. There has been talk and hope of this for years.

I look forward to it. I think they can do books 4-7 a lot more justice than the movies.

Also, yeah, JK Rowling is directly involved, so Harry won't be Trans...

Well, shut up and take my money then

I'd be more worried if JK wasn't going to be involved. She stated that she only agreed due to the screenwriters agreeing to this.

I am looking forward to them being able to fully cover the books, but it seems too soon for something like this. It doesn't feel like anyone is tired of the movies, and HBO is trying to fill the gap GoT left. I'll definitely watch, but could have waited another 5-10 years for them to reboot it.

Hermione will be race-swapped.
Hollywood has a thing against gingers. They almost always are the ones to get the race swap treatment. Wouldn't be surprised if the Weasleys looked a bit different.

So is Harry Potter identifying as female now? It's called Harry Potter

with this format you can dedicate entire episodes to explore James, Lily, Snape, Severus, Lupin etc when they were students. I'm really excited.

I’d be more excited if they made it 5 years ago.

As I stated in the other thread, their biggest trouble will be casting. I love the books and wasn’t that big of a fan of 3-6 movies, despite knowing the third as a movie is great but a poor adaptation. The first two and last two are fantastic, though. But the mysterious natures of Prisoner, Goblet and HBP were lost. And outside of Hallows, are the strongest books in the series. Part of the allure of all 3 are the slow burn, mystery of them and all of that is completely lost in the films.

The biggest problem I had with the movies was that, because of time restrictions and wanting to limit the cast, they really made the wider Wizarding World seem much smaller than it felt in the books. Everything feels so small and contained, even in Hogwarts. Hogwarts looks massive on the outside but never feels all that big on the inside like the video game made it seem. If they can address that and do a faithful adaption of the books, this could be great. But they really need to take their time with the casting

People always say that but completely disregard that the first four seasons (which were already completed works and were easily adaptable) were some of the best television we had seen. That series only jumped the shark when they ran out of material to adapt

Duh. The smartest, most studious kid at Hogwarts. Obviously black.

I'm good. Whatever crap they produce will be repetitive, as they play the movies on cable all the time, and they will certainly be political/woke in many ways. There's no avoiding it these days. Rowling might be anti-trans, but she's a far left lunatic otherwise.

The books and movies were enough. There's no way they can do better than that.

In defense of HBO, the material the show was based on wasn't completed and the show caught up to the books. When they were actually adapting the books to television, it was some of the best shite HBO ever did. The wheels fell off when the show no longer had anything to adapt and had to fly relatively blind with creators who, while great at adapting the books to screen, were lacking when it came to writing original content.

We saw how well the Game of Thrones universe rebounded with the first season of House of the Dragon. The best thing about that show is the story is complete and so there should be no repeat of what happened with the final two seasons of Game of Thrones.

that's racist. Black kids can't be smart? Especially a school who meticulously chooses it's students? It's a private school baw.

people who think the movies are all perfect are dilusional. Deathly Hallows pt 1 is the 2nd worst movie. Chamber of secrets being the worst. There's so much the movies couldn't even touch. But I wouldn't expect a pee brain racist as yourself to understand.

It’s weird. Some of the best movies in the series are the worst adaptations
