Behind the manicured public image and the manufactured “disrespect” that athletes have used forever to pump themselves up, they are real people that recognize and respect other great players in private. Case in point:

Video of Morris/Clark in tunnel (but not after the title)

It’s clear Morris is a fan. And that’s ok. Clark has also been nothing but complimentary of LSU.

This is all generated because of a few old guy, Iowa-favoring sports reporters blowing it up and enraging the masses.

Morris’ comments in the post game presser were also pretty clear about Clark as a player, Iowa as a team, and the whole defense of South Carolina nonsense.

I do agree that it is being overblown, but much of that is due to LSU players repeatedly bringing her up.

Genuine question, so why do they keep claiming disrespect?

Not to mention Connecticut beat writers sicking their liberal attack dogs.

Michael jordan used to make up getting disrespected in his head to get himself in the right mind frame to perform. Kirby smart did the same thing last season to his whole team.

What does it matter; we won

What’s hilarious about this is that they are only giving Reese more attention, likes, follows, and NIL money. Keep complaining people! It’s only putting more money in our athletes pockets!

Morris clarified this in the post game presser, about 9 minutes in. She said that Iowa was smart to play SC the way they did, but that as a player she would take it personally if they backed off her, so she wanted to make sure they paid for that if they did it. She then went on to compliment Iowa, and Clark specifically. Said Clark was changing the game for all of them. She was pretty clear and what she said made total sense.

I have no idea. I am in the camp of “say whatever during the game, but afterwards show respect to the competition” so I wasn’t a fan of everything our girls did after.

That said, my competitive playing days, as modest as they were, are decades behind me (except pickup ball) so I won’t be too critical of either side here. I think our girls manufactured a narrative of disrespect in the way many athletes have done in order to pump themselves up and gel the team before a huge game. Then, they got caught up in it and now have to defend their actions.

Much ado about nothing.

If I’m Mulkey I probably rein it in a little, but you gotta let the players you chose be the people they are, within reason.

Not sure. You should ask they players who keep talking about it after the fact.

Agreed any player is going to take it as a slight if the other team doesn't think it's necessary to guard you. Same way a hitter would if the other team pitches around the guy in front of you in the order.

Nice synopsis, it was as good a response from a player as I have seen in quite sometime. I Wish Alexis could play another year at LSU, her presence will be missed more than on the floor. If she does not make it on a WNBA roster, I hope LSU can find a place for her on the staff if her goal is coaching.

This has nothing to do with Morris. No one is objecting to Morris. I’ll say it again. Move on to something else and stop posting about this. You can’t have a thought or opinion on the subject that hasn’t already been posted.

It’s clogging the board.

Dabo Sweeney made the "we've been disrespected by everybody" into an art form. He used it to psych his team year after year.
Of course, he mixed in a bit of "Jesus wants Clemson to win", just for good measure...

The thing that’s different in this case is that the manufactured disrespect seems to be mostly race driven. USC coach saying they’re being called bar fighters (not racial and was actually said), thugs (racial and fabricated), and monkeys (racial and fabricated). Reese immediately said she’s been called too ghetto (racial and fabricated) and too hood (racial and fabricated)

The problem I have is the manufactured disrespect has such a racial tone now and it stains the ones being falsely accused of disrespect in a much worse way.

Angel Reese was retweeting pictures of her and Caitlin Clark last night saying "this been going on"

Every time she opens her mouth, she contradicts her own self for her previous said reasons of why she has to be drama and make it about herself and chase that clout.
