No. I graduated in 88 and my daughter (no pics) graduates in May. Can’t wait to get her out of BR. I am honestly nervous every time she leaves her apt. BR is. bad.

My daughter graduated LSU a few years ago, all was fine. Masters elsewhere bc it didn’t offer the degree. The other attended SELU, which was also good. I’d recommend SELU any day. The surrounding area in BR would give me pause these days for sure, and would probably suggest Tech or somewhere else. Most universities will be “woke” bc it makes them look good and may be required to receive funds, just like companies. Before this mess, how many schools and businesses did this? Not many, and I bet it’s mostly lip service now. A well raised kid will get through it. My Tiger called me laughing (but also in disbelief) at how the girls in her class we literally crying when Hillary lost. They know liberalism is a disease and college didn’t change that, it made them stronger and to see how foolish people can be. Our kids can’t live in a bubble and are exposed daily everywhere. It’s on them anyway at this point. Even with the crime in BR, they have to learn self-awareness and to be safe. And to make good decisions. Just like in real life.

BR is a dump but it's not really any worse than it was 6-7 years ago when she likely started. Maybe slightly.

My daughter has wanted to cheer for LSU her whole life. My other daughter still wants to be a an LSU Tiger Girl/dancer. The cheerleader wants to be a vet, dancer a doctor. After the cheerleader stayed at LSU for a camp last summer, she wants nothing to do with LSU. Just said it was a dump and we’ve all been worried about BR and the crime creeping in around campus.

She has a 4.8 GPA and a 31 ACT/36/34 English/Math. I asked her to give me her top five and all she would list is Ole Miss, another school she’s attended cheer camp at recently.

The dancer is dead set on LSU, but I don’t see them leaving each other. I’ve told them, ultimately whoever gives them the most money is where they’re going. I’m not paying 100k for them to go to Ole Miss when Tech will pay them 40k on top of their tuition being free for TOPS.

Can you get into IU? It's a much better program and you'd pay in-state. You can still wear purple and gold on Saturdays and no one will gaf.

Looking at the tuition rates, I'd consider the iMSA at Illinois. While I can't speak to the quality of their online program, they have a strong Accounting department and it will be cheaper for you.

So Seigen Lane and Gardere aren't in South BR? There's shootings there more often than there should be.

South BR used to be almost completely insulated from crime other than a few neighborhoods but it's not like that anymore. South Sherwood, Coursey, Siegen, Oneal, Staring. That is South BR.

Depends on what the degree is in. All the Lithettes (no pics) went to LSU. Last one graduated in Chem E wasn't very woke. Lithette #2 got a degree in Biology in 2014 and it was pretty woke in the Honors College

Yeah, this board should be ashamed at the negative publicity it gives its own university.

Where are you sending your kids with a similar size and reputation? Because those universities literally all practice the same bs lsu does

They’re all woke now. There is no 1985 ole miss you can jerk off to sending your kids too.

LSU was fun. I enjoyed my time there. That being said I won’t send my kids. We haven’t lived in state in years so there is the added financial reasoning. Why pay more for a school that isn’t even that good? LSU decided to remove legacy scholarships too. So they don’t even want my kids to go apparently. If you have tops then go for it. Otherwise it’s not a great investment.

My wife and I both went for undergrad and post grad work.

I would not want my kids to go to LSU.

We have finally broken the cycle of living in Louisiana and I don't want my kids to get sucked back in bc they like going to football games.

Good question. Some people will think it's silly. Others will get it.

I was in the same boat during undergrad.

Tried to transfer to LSU going into my junior year. All was in line and I met all of the credentials to get in-state tuition via the Tiger Stripes scholarship. Big problem, there was no funding. This was 2012 when the Athletic Dept. was cutting checks to the school.

It didn't work out, I made what turned out to be a very smart decision not to pay OOS tuition, and finished up in Kansas.

I get asked all the time if I went to LSU. My answer has some context, much like your's I assume, but I don't mind it. Unfortunately, I did not.

TLDR version - It's all opportunity cost. I wouldn't go into debt just to say you went to LSU or to validate your fan hood. BR is a dump these days too. I have cousins in BR right now who hate it and can't wait to graduate.

Not that it matters to the overall discusssion, but this in untrue. My daughter gets $1k per year as will my son starting next year since my wife and I are both alumni.

The MBA program at LSU is highly respected across the country. Can’t go wrong with adding that degree for advancement in your field.

With that said, neither of my daughters will attend LSU. One at TCU and the other is looking out of state.

Accounting and corporate Finance...it's a damn solid school with a good value proposition.

The full time program may be different, but the others are complete clown shows and nothing more than expensive credentialing. There is very little to no education taking place in the professional or executive programs.

I think so little of where my degree comes from. I moved away from Louisiana immediately after graduation, even with all the family history hooplah. Sure, was I happy to have gone there, absolutely. But would I have stayed in Texas and gone to a different school to reduce the out of state tuition and subsequent student loans? You bet your arse.

The only pride I feel is that I have a degree that offers me great earning potential in multiple industries
