Good luck to Justice always liked him but he could just never get any kind of rhythm.

Assuming he'll take a step down and go to the cusa or something would be a good move for him.

The only players staying are the ones who would have to sit if they left. Any grad or first time transfer is likely gone

None of the names that have entered the portal thus far are surprising. Probably most would say they were expected. The real test will be if guys who are likely to have prominent roles next year start leaving. So far that hasn't happened...yet.

My concern is we might win 6 games next year if we improve dramatically, and we'll all have to stomach the propaganda machine pushing the idea that it is moving in the right direction despite the fact that it takes monumental incompetence to only win 2 conference games. Winning six conference games should be, at the outset, deemed a failure for next year no matter what.

McMahon is taking the Sharon Weston-Broome approach to "success". Set expectations so low that ANY improvement is perceived as a positive...even though that level of improvement would still be among the worst seasons in nearly a decade.

I agree they’re different, he should be ahead of schedule this year not behind.

Neither do I

Just still hoping something turns around for the program. But right now the Women's program is the basketball team to watch.

There certainly is no fire.

He was hired on March 21st last year. It’s March 23rd today and all he’s done is lose players so your little narrative that he didn’t have time to build a roster last year is now gone.
Of course you are ignoring the 2 freshmen that are signed.

We currently have 10 scholarship players for next year, only 3 spots to fill. This time last year he had zero players and zero recruits to inherit. So clearly to anyone who isn't a complete phony this year is off to a much better start. And that will continue even if we see one or two more players enter the portal.

If the premise is that players on the roster can’t/won’t improve and McMahon and his staff can’t/won’t learn from this past season, then there’s little hope moving forward. However, that’s an extremely negative approach to any circumstance and one I chose not to live by. It makes for a very miserable existence.

Better recruit some players with speed and quickness! If you have been watching the tournament you see that players' quickness is the key to winning. It's obvious this LSU group was lacking in that. They were poor shooting because they could not beat the defensive quickness of those guarding them and get open shots. This is especially true for the guard play!!!

No matter who goes or who comes in, it wont matter unless the coaching improves. And now with Georgetown upgrading their coach and both Ole Miss and St Johns both hiring gre4ta coaches, players in the portal have even more and better options than LSU im afraid. Unless their is complete 180 from this staff, next season looks to be even worse than this past season. Oh and watch what a competent coach can do in one year at both Ole Miss and St Johns. 1 or both of those schools will be in the big dance next year

How is cutting dead weight a dumpster fire? Want to run it back with the same squad?

Because at this rate, you might not have enough players to fill a roster

There’s the problem, coaching. The guards who made the most mental mistakes and played poorly were the ones he had coached the longest and when we had guys show flashes in different parts of the season he wasn’t able to build on it. He’d often go the other way and caused more problems. He would need to bring in elite guys to win and he’s not going to do that.

Is it that he “didn’t wanna play at LSU” or he couldn’t do anything with his opportunities and sees that he’d be better off leaving as a result? He’s been here 2 or 3 years.

Hes been here 2 seasons and left high school early to play last season. Technically he shouldve been a freshman this year. With good coaching he will excel somewhere else.

The guys that have left so far needed to leave. They were not SEC caliber players. The question remains how well coach can recruit?

That wasn’t the premise, I was merely pointing out that a certain narrative is now been completely debunked. I agree with you we’ll probably have some guys improve but it’s doubtful we’ll have enough improvement or enough players improve to where we’ll become a winning team. For example going from 2 to 6 conference wins next year maybe considered improvement by some but still a failure in reality.

McMahon is known to be good in the player development aspect. The issue is will be able to recruit with the stranglers and Mrs. wade’s of the world.

If Williams hadn’t developed in 2 years under Wade and McMahon, maybe he’s just not that good?

I actually think he has some talent and potential, but has not developed it. Whether that's on him or CMM or a combination of the two I have no idea.
