“Everybody’s got an opportunity to make choices and decisions. There’s no such thing as being in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Saban said. “You have to be responsible about who you’re with, who you’re around, what you do and who you associate yourself with, along with the situations you put yourself in.” “It is what it is, but there is cause and effect when you make choices and decisions that put you in bad situations.”
He speaks the truth but personal responsibility isn’t really a thing anymore.

It’s pretty clear Saban doesnt like Oats.

That’s such a weak excuse. Coaches in multiple sports have disciplined players for breaking rules within the program that aren’t actual crimes.
And two Ohio State players were just acquitted on rape charges from 3 years ago after their entire lives were ruined.
I beleive that in these kinds of situations, you really need to let the process play out to some degree. At least have enough evidence for a charge at a minimum.

Don’t fool yourself. If he was the best player in college football (like Miller is in basketball) he is playing!

horseshite. Let's see he sit a Heisman caliber QB during the season. Easy to act like Mr. Integrity in the offseason with a DB.

Dammit. It’s hard not to like the guy. He’s trying to make men.
I like pieces of Alabama. The unis. The houndstooth. Saban is fantastic…
But the fricking pompous BAMA fans are so horribly self absorbed and arrogant, I hope they lose every game they play just so the fans lose.

How quickly ya'll forget the excuses he made for Jermaine Burton after the UT game.
Intellectual consistency has never been Saban’s strong suit, but disliking Nate Oats is universal.

Wonder how that would have worked out if it had been Bryce Young two days before the CF Playoff.
Easy to do when you’ve got five more just like him.

After reading that quote, I have to wonder how many times this a-hole has said,
“It is what is”
Seems like every soundbite we see of him he seems to find a way to wiggle his favorite saying.

This does kind of the fly in the face of one of his previous rants that I agreed with about giving kids a second chance when they make a mistake.
He didn’t dismiss the kid, he suspended him. He’s getting a second chance. I could be mistaken, but I don’t think Miller even missed any minutes.

So would all this Brandon Miller stuff be ok if Oats suspended him for a few measly games? Or some practices?

Nick hates to have to answer questions about the lack of
discipline in other ALA athletic programs. It hurts HIS
recruiting. He`s pissed at OATs ,it makes all ALA programs
look bad.

How many times have his players done something wrong and got little or no missed game time? Unless this “making them men” only applies off the football field.
Saban is about what makes him look good and be successful. Oates bringing all the negativity and attention to Bama’s campus during prime recruiting time is bad for his business.

For me, the issue was a complete lack of accountability from top to bottom. The administration took the position that as long as there were no charges then Miller was good to go, but obviously there can be conduct warranting of discipline that doesn’t result in criminal charges. It was a dishonest, inconsistent position taken by the University in order to absolve themselves and Miller of any accountability.
The University also took the position they don’t investigate criminal matters, and because of that protocol they are ok not knowing whether Miller read the text message before delivering the gun (or they know the answer and are concealing it). However, as it concerns Miller, it’s not a criminal matter, so that whole justification for not investigating whether he was responding to the text to deliver the gun doesn’t exist.
Alabama AD went on College Gameday podcast and twice dodged the question on whether Miller knew he was going to deliver the gun - LINK, not even acknowledging that was a pertinent piece of information on which disciplinary decisions shoukd be based.
All signs point to Miller either read the text before delivering the gun or he plead the 5th when asked (if anyone even asked him). If that weren’t the case, his attorney would have shouted that from the roof tops.
As to what measure of discipline would have been acceptable in most people’s eyes, I think a week long suspension may have been just enough to avoid the intense scrutiny. To me though, aN expulsion from school was warranted.

Yeah but Brandon Miller is good at basketball and Bama needs him for a Final 4 run
