It doesn't matter to me, I don't pay for crappy little subscriptions anyway. It wasn't the price of cable that bothered me it was the liberal content or lack of quality programming that convinced me to cut the cord. I watch youtube and other free apps, I no longer pay for television at all and I don't miss it.

I cut the cord 3 years ago for YT. Optimum is offering me a bundle of internet 1 gig down, home phone and cable tv all channels including hbo and access to hbo max for $115. Seriously thinking about it. Plus I get the History channel back and they also have an app for streaming.

Yea I can’t stand Hulu but in this case it makes sense to switch. I pay $14.99 for the bundle plus $64.99 for YT TV.
so do i. i usually don't do this, but i'll probably just share YT TV with my mom who almost never watches TV and convince her to split the bill.

The only real solution to this would be a cable package that is a la cart. A cable company should have the means to provide you with whatever channels are available, but you should be able to pick which channels you want for a price-per-channel subscription.
I’ve been saying this for years! I would jump on it in a heartbeat.

I'm also considering this. Maybe do like others have suggested and just pay for it during football season.

Naw it's definitely still cheaper than DTV or Dish, just not as much anymore.
Not really advocating for anything. Just pointing out that YTTV is getting more expensive for the same content and is not far from being at the price range of major cable/satellite companies.
All I’m saying is what was once a good thing is now becoming an expense. If people pay for it, fine. If not that’s fine too.
We need a better system for choosing cable but as long as people pay for the current system, nothing will change

No shame. I used my parents YT TV login for the longest until my mom freaked out and cancelled it when they had their 1 day dispute with Disney/ESPN

wasn't that the other way around? I had Dish during that dispute and Disney was going to block ESPN right before one of our games so I fired DISH and got YT TV

8 dollars alone is nothing.
34.99 From March 2018 to $72.99 is a 108% price increase over 5 years.
More relevantly, it's a 12% price increase YoY.

I'm for people abandoning cable/satellite, but I can't argue. YTTV was the better choice at $35. Still slightly wins out at $65. At $73 you're pushing it. If I'm gonna go cable/satellite programming (which is what YTTV is) I might as well go all the way and have a box with a remote, even at the higher price.
Especially consdering how much trouble YTTV gives people when it comes to delays and quality depending on browser settings.
YTTV is only superior because the price difference is larger than the gap in quality.

I just went back and did some Googling on YouTube TV'S pricing and remember exactly why I dropped it.
It was aimed at cord-cutters when it was launched in 2017 as a one-stop-shop including the national networks and local affiliated in several markets they rolled out in (plus stuff like YT Premium and Music which I didn't care about, but hey, thanks Google). Well, I got in on the $34.99 price and was like: "This is great!".
February 2018, they acquired (started carrying) Turner Broadcasting channels like TNT, TBS, CNN, as well as deals with sports leagues such as the MLB and NBA for their respective networks and raised the price to $39.99/month. I'm still cool with that. Five bucks a month along with two extra sports networks: cool.
In March 2019, they launched in Somewhere, Montana which gave them 100% coverage in all 210 US TV markets. Also they started carrying the 9 Discovery Networks (which includes things like Oprah's network and HGTV...) and MGM's Epix (okay...It's now MGM+) Network and jumped $10 to $49.99. So, still not a bad value.
May of 2020, they added Viacom networks along with Warner channels like HBO, but you had to pay premium, along with being able to access HBO MAX and the like, and went up to $64.99. That's when it caught my attention and realized the price had nearly doubled since I started the service ($34.99 to $64.99). That's when the cost started to outweigh the value for me and my family.
We have the Hulu/Disney/ESPN bundle and HBO Max and that's it now. We just dropped Netflix about a month ago due to their price increase along with the dropoff in quality content. We are coming out way cheaper now with our TV consumption vs 6 or 7 years ago when paying for DirecTV or cable in our area.

Yeah, I was. YouTube TV customer when it was under $50 per month. Will definitely start looking at alternatives soon. Maybe Direct Tv Now???

I've paused my YTTV to resume at the end of August, just before football starts.
