This is a good read about it. I fish out there often and it’s pretty surreal to think about its existence. The trout fishing is great out there.

the island is still there but only a couple hundred yds wide at points.
I had a book on this and it was pretty interesting. The rich people from NOLA would take the train and ferry out to the island for the summer. IDK if you are familiar with that area but I am guessing what we call whiskey pass wasn't a pass before that storm.
ETA- just saw you read the book also

I’d that’s true does it mean that New Orleans is a hemorrhoid and Baton Rouge is a polyp?

Idk
I did go to a beach in Cameron one time and it looked like what I imagine hell/apocalypse end of times horror movie.
What a dump
Imagine the miss river with high waves
Stumps, trees, trash dirty shite water.
Place sucked bad.
Never going back down there

We used to have Thunderbird Beach in Watson, but Baton Rouge refugees turned it into a neighborhood.

Sorry not everyone takes Louisiana history or Louisiana geography in high school
But you do breath air right? That's really the only common trait between people that live in Louisiana and know all GOM states have beaches, to people that have never even been to Louisiana and know all GOM states (including Louisiana) have beaches.

When we were kids we were always at Last Island and Timbalier. My Mom and Dad lived in Grand Isle for twenty years.
Now I go with my friends to Cheniere au Tigre sometimes. We have beaches.

God gave us a choice, a pretty beach or an estuary that produces some of the finest seafood in the world. Pass the fried shrimp please.
