What is your go to if price wasn’t an option? I like the Dong Phuong the best but they are so hard to get fresh.

Is wait time and/or availability excluded too?

if you're in the city, they distribute to a ton of places

they're my favorite, but I had one from tartine over the weekend and it was damn good too.

We had one shipped to us to see what all the rage was about. Meh.

Levee Baking Co.'s Galette des Rois is my favorite at the moment.

A fat girl told me that the cinnamon pecan king cake from Cajun Pecan House is the best one ever. She says they ship it ‘undressed’ and you ice it yourself.

Agreed - I like them a lot, but if you don't get them fresh they're pretty dry. I also don't get all the intense hype around them. They're good, but I feel like there are a lot of good king cakes out there and none really stand head and shoulders above the rest to me. They're all different.

I don't see their name pop up a lot, but I really like Gambino's apple filled from Baton Rouge. I also had a Tartine's king cake this weekend and it was fantastic.

Why do people get so excited over glorified cinnamon rolls? Fatties will stand in a line at Manny Randazos at 5:00am but don’t have time to workout. It amazes me the stupidity of people.

Picked up a cream cheese Dong Phoung this afternoon. Very good. Very different. The icing takes getting used to though. Wasn't ready for the lightness and runniness. Slightly overhyped, but very good nonetheless. I don't think there is one head and shoulders above the rest. I'm a fatty though and like all king cake.

Yeah……put me in the Cajun Pecan House camp. They don’t miss. We’re eating on the wedding cake king cake from them this week. Their dough is more airy/fluffy and not as heavy. Still get those miles in so I don’t completely feel like crap

Must say that Oak Point in Central and Denham Springs have made quite an impression on me and mine. Many to choose from and fairly priced. Crème Brûlée is spectacular.

If you haven't tried one from Navarre bakery in Springfield, you need to. Best I've had.

Caluda's is doing everything right with their king cakes for me personally.

Caluda's is underrated. You can get individual slices at PJs Coffee.

Keller's amaretto walnut - it's definitely the best in Lafayette, but possibly the world.
