Uncle “Remus”

Certainly fits in with a certain narrative about certain folks?

Walt Disney himself was racist and antisemitic so how about we just get rid of the whole company all together ? I wouldn’t mind that.

If you polled everyone getting off the ride, 95% of people would have no idea it was based on Song of the South.

Most people would tell you It’s a ride about a bear, a rabbit, and a fox.

I don't care about agendas woke or otherwise. I assume all large scale corporations do something someone disagrees with. But I am not paying top dollar for

AND the workers there suck now. Over the past several years there has been a noticeable change in how they interact with you. Some are even borderline rude. The fish is rotting from the head down, the “magic” is gone!

That was the entire reason to pay more and go to Disney!

What's funny is. If you know Disney history. The Only reason song of the south was used is because the animation style matched animatronics already in use in Disneyland for America Sings which no one went to. The Brer characters were added to the already existing America Sings animatronics on a new ride. Then a couple of years later in Florida a similar ride is built but with all new animatronics.
Song of the south wasn't chose. For the movie. It was needed to fit into country bear land in Disneyland and this theme did.
It's adjacent to Orleans Square in Disneyland. So theming it there to New Orleans makes sense as new orleans has a land in Disneyland.

Disney world is changing it first and has no new orleans land. Instead it has a colonial area land. So i still say keep it a log flume ride and make it Pocahontas in world.

I’m not woke, but every time I rode that ride I couldn’t believe how ‘old’ it felt in terms of sensitivity. Old school AF isn’t bad, but it could use some updating.

Ever notice how everything leftists set their sights on immediately goes to shite? They create nothing. They improve nothing. All they do is destroy and pervert what is already made. Woke progressivism is a literal cancer on society. And sadly we’re surrounded by legions of feeble minded, indoctrinated dolts who follow it as though it were a religion.

In fact, I’d argue woke progressivism, which is actually no different than old-school communism, has morphed into a quasi-region. It has its own dogma that it’s followers must adhere to or face excommunication. It has its own saints who are above reproach. It has its own bishops and priests who tell the masses what to think. And it’s adherents all cling to it though faith alone because, as anyone with a functioning frontal cortex can attest, literally everything it claims to be true, is in fact demonstratively false. And the irony of it all is the vast majority of its followers are too stupid to realize they’re part of a religion and would vehemently argue otherwise.

Should have made it into a Pocahontas ride imho. It would at least fit some of the frontier narrative.

Indians aren't the preferred victim class right now.

Yet tomorrowland is stuck in the early 80's.

For those interested, this line from Wiki points out what people likely find objectionable:
quote:
Criticisms in the black press largely objected to the reinforcement of stereotypes, such as the subservient status of black characters, costuming, the exaggerated dialect, and other archaic depictions of black people

I will bet a large sum that the offended can't tell me exactly what "reinforcement of stereotypes, such as the subservient status of black characters, costuming, the exaggerated dialect, and other archaic depictions of black people" is referring to in the show or the ride. Manufactured outrage. A small minority of white liberals and marxists demand change for a made up slight and woke Disney is all too happy to comply.

The amount of cross dressers and trannies in Disney is borderline inappropriate for children. The staff there is becoming filled with the entitled millenials who want to wield what little power they have in Disney. Covid made it much worse.

So replace it with a fully colored person theme. No equality insight shocker.

I've always found tomorrowland to be the dingiest part of Magic Kingdom. But, if, as another poster said, splash mountain was dated, there are way more dated rides needing upgrades than splash mountain. And way less fun rides...

I hadn’t seen the movie or read the books In probably 35 years so I had to look it up on Wiki.

And that's the problem: Going to a "source of information" that is wholly controlled by people who have an agenda, and do not accurately chronicle historical truth.

Wikipedia is garbage in many instances.

EXACTLY!!! But, in today's pussified society, if one person is offended, then it is apparently not allowed.

If you are one of those kind of people who have to publicly declare that you have been offended, you are the damn problem and you are a POS!

Wrong. If 1 victim class person is offended, and the "offense" is popular among the left, then it is "not allowed".

And incredibly soft.
