Trying to understand this. And if this is the case, then why even commit to a school that already has a starting and 2nd string QB? If you come in as a freshman, shouldn't you expect to learn and not see the field for at least 2 years?!? How may freshmen QBs are out there?!? They would get slaughtered in the SEC.

The Matt Flynn days are over. I honestly think Nuss will leave after spring if he doesn’t win the job. Can’t see him sitting a third year.

He thought he was better than he is.

Did you see his stars and hs ranking? Yeah, they don’t mean shite anymore.

Hope we meet them in the playoffs and get to rub his nose in it just like Georgia did.

I don't see Nuss leaving. Let's think of 2024, Nuss has a chance at a Natty. And God knows we desperately need great starting level depth behind Daniels. That's Nuss.

The new norm is to not get too excited when a player commits out of high school.

Recruiting was different before the portal. Kids went where they could see a clear path to development PLUS playing time. Now they know they can get development anywhere, and transfer for playing time if the window of opportunity doesn’t look good for them. I don’t blame them.

But QB is not like DT, or offensive line or any other position. There’s only one qb per year that takes 98% of the snaps. All. Year. There’s no chance to really show what you can do in a game setting unless major injuries occur. It is what it is. Howard wants to play, and anybody who blames him is stupid. This isn’t 1975. Too much is at stake to sit and be unseen for 4 years. Ask Joe Burrow if he regrets going to the best window of opportunity…

Nobody knows because nobody knows what coaches say during the recruiting process. They can get on camera and say one thing and say another in private. So who knows but I don’t blame him for not wanting to wait for his senior season to have a chance to start

Human nature is to do what’s best for yourself

If a guy wants to be a pro then starting asap is in his best interest.

Before NIL, the portal gave guys that opportunity but then NIL adds money to the equation so Consider the high injury rate, starting AND getting paid is a no brainer

Starting is in a kids best interest

You’re talking about 18-22 year old kids. They’re going to do what’s best for them, especially when it doesn’t penalize them.

Now, that would be stupid. 2024&2025 is all Nuss no matter what happens. It would just require a little patience. However, I suspect you will see two QBs next season.

It’s been this way for 5 years. Everyone’s ox has gotten gored. And it will continue. Tampering needs to be addressed. The decision to enter the portal is way too often influenced by other team’s staff or boosters.

Would Nuss be ok with 25-30% of the snaps and the lock on starting as a junior?

All BK has to do is not announce a winner after the spring. Just keep telling each QB behind closed doors that they are the leading candidate up until the week of the first game.

This is not so much about starting, but being number three on the depth chart for another year which mean you are getting reps with the scout team.

Had JD done the one and done like the intention was I believe Walker would still be here, HOWEVER this is not JDs fault.

Walker had all of last spring and this past fall camp to win the number 2 position and couldn't do it and with Nuss showing progress with his playing time the hand writing was on the wall he would be third qb again for another season, then you have Ricki Collin breathing down your neck not to mention Colin Hurley the following year.

Imagine you're a kid with NFL dreams. Are you really gonna sit and wait? What if you never get the opportunity? Someone else is out there offering it

We all have hopes and dreams and if we feel like the spot we're in (job or whatever) is preventing us from achieving them, we're gonna go somewhere else to get it

It's the way of the world, and now the way of CFB

We as fans know logically the team needs backups and succession plans, but in the eyes of these kids, they don't want to be backups or succession plans. They wanna go make their dreams reality. And yes, a lot of them won't, but some will and that's what they're hunting
