Got this info from a poster on One3 sports The Ponderosa forum. Said he spoke with Jake and his mother and expects things to move quickly and has a chance to see what LSU has to offer compared to Wisconsin. If we land him this Oline is going to be unreal

Renfro has been a starter for the Bearcats and earned All-AAC first team honors last season as he started 13 games for Cincinnati during the historic playoff season.

Renfro missed the entire 2022 season with an injury.

Renfro played high school football at Providence Catholic (Illinois) High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 2109 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3 on Renfro in portal

This would be an excellent add. Guessing we close the deal if he is coming in for the statesdvisit. Could see current starting center enter portal if this happens.

I wouldn’t say that at all. Wisc has a major edge. His former coaches now are there. What’s the center position look like at Wisc.

All you can hope for is getting the visit. There is no guarantee IMO that he would choose LSU over Wisky.

Maybe not but our track record is pretty good if we get them to campus. Also, we have a chance next year don’t think the same can be said about Wisconsin. You do bring a good point tho

Let’s not minimize the fact his former head coach is now the coach at Wisky…I would imagine there is a strong relationship there.

Sure and denbrock was his former oc. Wiscy will be tough to beat for him, but the fact we are getting a visit after he already visited wiscy is good. We have a shot

Agreed. He’s also from Illinois so the cold climate isn’t a factor we can leverage

Maybe not … wasn’t Renfro in the portal before Fickell was hired by Wisconsin?

I would not minimalize that at all but if it were a deal maker he would not even be visiting here. We are a potential contender and have a need for his services. NIL is probably better here than Wisc. Aranda was only making $500k when he came here and UW did not even attempt a counter. Moral of that story is that they dont put the money in FB we do…

What's wrong with our current center?

Need more beef so we don’t get pushed around when we go up against elite defensive fronts like UGA. LSU is trying to go from A to A+.

He lives 2 yards behind the line of scrimmage

Will trust the coaches evaluation on this one as Kelly obviously knows O line play.

BUT.... for the sake of conversation, are we sure this is a huge upgrade from our current center situation? I admittedly didn't watch much of Cincy last year, but I do remember them getting absolutely dominated on the line of scrimmage in that semifinal game against Bama. Doesn't necessarily mean he didn't hold his own, but also possible he could spend as much time in our backfield as our current center.
