CENTRAL - A four-year-old who got lost during a hiking trip with his father Saturday ended up in freezing-cold water.

According to the Central Police Department, the boy was found in a body of water along Frenchtown Road in Central shortly after 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

The call, initially came into the police department just shy of 3 pm.

"The father called our phone." says Corcoran

The report, came after the child had been missing for about an hour. Shortly after, Central police, the Central fire department, EBRSO, St George Fire Department, and other first responders surrounded the premises of the park and began looking for the young child.

Police Chief Roger Corcoran said the boy wandered away from his father and went missing for nearly 40 minutes before he was found by first responders.

"He walked away from him on the trails, lost contact with him and couldn't find him."

Yeah, there is something fricky about this story. I know that exact area very well and they had to have gone far down Frenchtown, then deep in the woods or pretty far down those railroad tracks.

It was cold as hell yesterday. That father should be charged.

Both the boy and his father were taken to a hospital where the boy remains in critical condition.

Glad the boy is still alive. Should probably be added to the OP.

How do you lose a 4 yr old on a hiking trip? A kid that young isn’t getting out of my sight. Dad obviously didn’t read stories from a real search and rescue guy.

Merry Christmas everyone. The boy was found in the Amite River.

One of the firefighters jumped in the frigid water to grab the little boy and brought him to the embankment. Firefighters started administering CPR immediately.

This, what the frick is he looking at or doing that he doesn't notice the kid wandering off. It isn't like you spin a circle and the kid is gone. You have to be totally clueless and situationally unaware of surroundings.

So much frickery in this that it seems likely intentional.

This is a BREC conservatory now. They have trails and are building a huge nature center. Definitely a different Frenchtown than it was in the 90s

He killed that kid. Was way too cold to be hiking yesterday, especially with a 4 yo kid.

There isn't a single thing either normal or believable about this story.
