Family pictures with Santa, am I the A-Hole?

I've been trying to get my wife and kids to go down to the mall and get our picture with Santa but the wife is putting the brakes on it. She's been coming up with excuses on how she doesn't want to go to the mall; it's packed and too busy, doesn't like all the unsupervised teenagers roaming around, safety, etc... The kids are indifferent but they are just stubborn teens.

I thought this would be a great family moment especially since my 2 kids (15,17) are from my previous marriage and will be spending Christmas with their mom.

Am I the A-hole for wanting a nice Christmas memory with my family?

Find somewhere else not the mall with Santa.

Hell, I’ll dress up and she can sit on my lap.

I bet she’s been naughty this year.

You aren’t the a-hole, just making your life harder by not finding a compromise. There are plenty of Santas out there.

Ask them why they are so lackluster about it (individually) and don't accept anything you feel is just some bullshite excuse.

Don’t give her a choice. Just hitch up the trailer and drive all three of em down there.

found the problem

teenagers want no part of family pictures of any kind whatsoever no matter the reason

doesnt matter how good a parent you are, you are seen by them as an embarrassment to be seen with

stick to your guns and make them do it, when they get older they will be glad you did and cherish those family christmas pictures

that said, pictures with the mall santa should only be for kids 8 and under, not grown arse teenagers

Absolutely not. I dragged my family out to the middle of Livingston to take pictures with an old red truck. There’s plenty of Santa opportunities.

I'm gonna need you to unpack this troll a little better because there's way too many kids and step kids and previous marriages involved but spoken of too passingly.

Why didn't you take your family to Santa brunch at one of the restaurants that hosts it?

Your wife is smart, avoid the mall.

taking santa pics with 15 and 17 yr olds seems weird.

Isn't 15 a bit old to still take pics with Santa?

I don't think you're an a-hole, but you're probably weird.

Also I believe there’s a Santa opportunity this weekend at Petsmart Millerville.

This smells like a troll, but yes, you're the a-hole. No one takes a 15 and a 17 year old to get a pic with the mall santa. Are they going to sit in his lap?
